this is my first post so be gentle! I've just bought this TV myself but I paid £699 and thought that was a good deal. This is an awesome TV with very good reviews. Full LED backlit, 1080p, Freeview HD, 200hz and 2.2ms response time. Believe me this is a great TV and it looks great too, its basically a single pane of glass and is remarkably thin.

Yes its FULL LED. I can't fault Electrocentre, they rang me up the day after I ordered to arrange delivery the following day, and they rang me up on the day to tell me they were on their way. They also opened the TV and unpacked it to check it was OK before leaving. I'm still in awe of this TV - just got the PS3 connected up to it and it's awesome!

Can't fault Electrocentre, they deliver themselves. They rang me the day after I ordered to arrange the delivery the next day.

Then I stand corrected! It may say it in the OP but many retailers deliberately attempt to confoose us poor schmucks with Full HD / HD ready / LED TV type terminology. Voted HOT therefore :)

hmm- interesting - blurb says led lifespan less then ccfl backlight.......price drop too ;)

All the reviews seem to be for the 47, whilst the 42 review quoted isn't great. Whilst i'd pay much more weight to an avf review they only mention the 47 - the 42 review elsewhere seems to say the biggest problem comes from the led backlighting - poor contrast and issues due to too few leds illuminating the screen. The 47, whilst being the same model would obv have a different backlight and could possibly have a higher density of leds - i cant find a difinitive answer but common sense says that the same low density on the 42 would be much more apparant on the bigger sets.

Has yours arrived yet? Whats it like? Could you display a pure black test picture (off usb stick prob easiest) and a pure white one and see what the results look like?

Yes, it arrived 2 days after I ordered it. We're really pleased with it - the contrast issue is only apparent if you turn dynamic backlighting off (so don't turn it off!) as far as I can tell. The only other thing we noticed is the B-movie effect you get when you watch HD at 200hz but this was my fault as I didn't realise you switch to the THX Cinema mode. There are 4 modes on the TV - Off, THX Cinema, Sport, and Game. A mate of mine has a Panny plasma and he's now after one of these for his next TV

I have done extensive research for the past 6 weeks on HD TVs. Plasma vs LCD vs LCD/LED - w/local dimming or not etc. For my price range I had considered buying the LG 42LX6900 but I read too many bad things about cross talk/ghosting from the 3D, not to mention it's 'edge lit' LED screen (reviews say that it has light seeping out from the edges)
Finally, after 6 long weeks (and many late nights of research) I found this web page. Sufficed to say I have been converted. Researching this TV has lead me to value superb 2D image over 'bad' 3D. I shall let you all know the virdict when my order arrives.
