Superb TV, I have the 42LH4000 which the only major difference is it's 100Hz (which I turned off anyway as it doesn't need it). Brill TV and glad I chose it over some of the other brands.
Don't forget you can enable DivX and MKV (no DTS) video via USB by rolling back the firmware and making the changes in the service menu. NTFS is supported too, so large video files are no problem.

Grabbed this from a thread on AVForums -

HOW TO DOWNGRADE FIRMWARE AND ACTIVATE THE USB

DOWNGRADE (read first)

ok , create a folder on your USB stick called LG_DTV and put the 3.15 firmware in that folder (dont put another folder in the folder just the firmware itself) and Insert USB stick into TV, (if it doesnt read it automatically) then press MENU and choose OPTION (but dont press OK) but press the FAV button 7 TIMES to get upgrade screen on and choose firmware to upgrade / OK.... - failing that, repeat but press '7' 7 times instead of 'fav' which will get the basic upgrade screen on
- downgrade the firmware and restart TV

ACTIVATE USB
hold down OK on remote and OK on the TV for about 5 secs (be sure to point remote at TV) then it will ask for password - press 0000 and it will take you into service menu = go to no. 2. TOOLS OPTION 3 and change JPEG to 1 and DIVX to HD (dont change ANYTHING else or you will break TV and NO bluetooth doesnt work unless your TV comes with it)

UPGRADE

following the downgrade guide but put the 3.40 firmware into the LG_DTV folder (deleting the old one) and insert into TV and upgrade, as the firmware is newer than in the TV it may read the USB stick without having to press FAV or 7 seven times...

Just have to find out where to get the firmwares from now.

If I had the money, I would be going to 'go to deal'. Fantastic price for this screen size LCD TV from a reputable brand.

you should never 'go to deal'

always go through a cashback site

great price voted hot:thumbsup:

only with the code it becomes better than amazon which sells it as the SAME PRICE
#10
Plus quidco? Or does the 4% voucher void cashback?

If you want a far better TV for a little more money with a longer guarantee go with this:

If you want a 50incher, thats just as good but a refurb for the same money, go with:

Your comparing LCD with Plasma which are 2 completely different technologies, many people like myself think the inherent technical flaws with Plasma far outweigh the quality difference ((which I might add is very minimal now compared to top end LCD)

Looks this is no longer available

My mum has a 43 inch Pioneer Plasma and I think my 46in Shard LCD is far superior (not just the fact it's slightly bigger) but the Plasma seems noisier and 'Buzzes' slightly when there are bright images on the screen.

So have gone for this 42 in LCD LG for my sister who's in the process of moving out - awesome price!

This TV is great, i got one for 475 less 16 quidco, so about 459 in november, have got the usb sorted the day i got it, now have a 1tb hard drive connected to it. The picture quality is brill, plus the HD content from the hard drive is truly awesome.

Just did the IR-Hack thing on my LG 32LH3000, now the USB is enabled and it'll play almost anything I throw at it! Thanks a million! Rep added :)

And most people unlike yourself couldnt give a toss, and just worry about inches, pixels and hdmi ports.

the lh3000 series doesn't have 100hz and ive been looking for about 2 months for a tv max price of £450 with 100hz
the lh5000 have 100hz but cant find a deal on it

have to say though that is a good price for a tv of that size, its a not bad quality picture too just dont expect it to be top notch you kinda get what you pay for with tv's

The LH4000 have 100Hz, the LH5000 are 200Hz.
But to be honest, I prefer the picture with it turned off (which I have done on my 42LH4000).
No problems with motion blur etc @ 50Hz with these screens.
#22
468 now :(

ordered it anyway :-)
#23
Don't forget Quidco - we ordered with the stand too and £17 tracked!

Am seriously thinking about getting one of these, reviews seem good.

Can any of those people that's got one in the last week or so comment on the TV, also what they compared it against?
#25
I bought the 47" and I have a dark square showing at the bottom middle of the screen

It appears when there's motion from one side to another and most obvious when watching football

At the same time as this there's a dark vertical line down the right hand side

Gutted

How long had you had it before this appeared?

I'm assuming it's a fault & not a 'feature' of the TV!
#27
Another thing when watching football is when the lineseman is near and he puts his flag up, (where he's waved the flag) that area of the screen goes a huge streak of black with an outline of the colours of his flag

I bought it last week with a 5 year warranty although I'm not sure I want this or another of the same in my house

Where do I stand?

Thanks

*Edit

Called and asked for a full refund. They told me there would be no problem with that

Unsure what TV I want now
#28
Anyone else with comments on this TV?

I almost bought it today but the 'VOUCH4' code had run out, so i'm holding out to see what happens.

I've spent months looking at TV's, decided on a panny plasma, then persuaded myself to go for this LG (which was slightly cheaper), now it seems i'm back to square one unless there are some really good comments about this one.

It does seem to get good reviews, along with the USB being hackable.......argh....head starting to hurt

I've already ordered a blu-ray player & stand, just need the blimmin TV now to go with it!

Any thoughts?
#29
I'm now looking at the Panasonic S20 and G20 but I'll be taking my time

Was looking for this, sold out at Dixons but found for £469 (less 3% Quidco is £454) at Currys
