Seems like a good deal, cant find it cheaper
#2
werid in it says in spec

The LG 42LV250U’s 1080p Full HD screen provides 1920 x 1080p picture resolution
it says it twice so a bit baffled, lolol

I'm surprised this hasn't generated more interest. It's very cheap for a 42" LED Edge-Lit LCD 1080p TV with HD Freeview. £557 at Amazon & £749 at John Lewis.

I can't find any reviews of it... possibly because it's a new model.
banned#4
I agree this should be red hot.....mailes cheaper than anywhere.....

finding a review would help, dont seem to be any about

plus very confusing as theres to tv's the 42LV355U and the 42LV355T, both are mentioned in the ad, but the U doesnt have freeview HD, so tbh you dont know which one you get

im willing to be wrong but usually when model numbers are that similar they are usually the same thing, im not entirely sure this set has freeview HD due to the price and picture of it.. youd be better to ring and find out before ordering (maybe OP can verify)

that doesnt make it a bad deal though

model numbers usually differ like that so different stores dont have to price match one and other, this a new model hense the lack of reviews, we are seeing TV's get pretty cheap nowadays, i have just taken delivery of a 32" LED LG set abount an hour ago looking forward to finishing work and setting it up :)

thats a lcd this is a led.

So is it freeview HD or not?

Infomation states:

"Get ready to watch high definition TV for free with built in Freeview HD bringing you the best of BBC, ITV and C4 in glorious HD with no monthly fee or contract. Freeview HD provides up to five times the picture quality of standard definition Freeview, for pin sharp action and vivid colours."

But in the specification it just says freeview..?

thats a lcd this is a led.

Actually they're both LCD tvs in a sense. The LED is just the way the backlighting is done for the screen, in this case edge lit. It's saves on power and can mave the tv's thinner/lighter, but it doesn't make a massive difference to picture quality just by having LED lighting. The panel is a far more important factor that dictates picture quality.

Basically don't see the word LED and assume it's a massively better telly, although it is a nice thing to have, best to do the research and find out if it is a quality screen

Might be worth keeping an eye on this thread.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/1470272-lg-42lv355-42-led-any-thoughts.html

Voting hot regardless though, LG make some good panels these days and a 42 inch LED lit screen with freeview HD (if it turns out to have that) is a massive bargain at this price.

I did some research. I think this model is non Freeview HD as it is model number 32LV355U. U signifying standard freeview.

Just to let you all know that the TV from Bestbuy is the 42LV355U and from what I understand that doesn't come with Freeview HD.

I ordered one but cancelled my order because I want to have Freeview HD
#14
on lg website. it states 2 models 42LV355U and the 42LV355T

the U doesnt have freeview HD the T does

hope it helps. best buy dont help themselves with conflicting model numbers in the description, they done a few times, its not gd practice imo

Have cancelled my order, it's not free view hd. :/
#21
betbuy really need to sort their descriptions out, still a gd deal but no where near as gd if had freeview hd, if it was T i would have bought straight away as in market for gd a £400 full hd freeview hd tv
#22
I bought 42" LCD with free view HD £409 from Amazon huges direct, a week ago. I was thinking to buy this one and return mine because of LED and ultra thin feature. But then found out that it's not free few hd.
Bestbuy descriptions are rubbish, they have mentioned 2 other model numbers in the description of this TV.
#23
Really like the look of this. Don't care about Freeview HD as I would use a PVR. Anyone know if its any good?
#24
Hi
Tried 2 credit cards online this morning and both times declined.
Anyone else ordered online OK?
Thanks.

You need to call your bank, some websites/banks block larger transactions for fraud protection. If you call them they will clear the transaction and you can order.

Cheers Uzion, will do, just never had this problem before for this type of amount.
Cheers.

Why not try a price match with John Lewis as if they don’t notice that it’s a slightly different model you’ll get the version with Freeview HD and a 5 year warranty for £400. A long shot but worth a punt for 5 minutes of your time although it’s £750 at JL - Link.
#28
Just noticed its not available for home delivery so its no good to me i am afraid :-(
#29
I'm very tempted by this offer ( especially with a Bestbuy store just opened nearby ), but available funds mean I'll have to wait until DSO in my area.
Why are people cancelling their order ? £399 is a steal for a 42" with LED edge lighting. ( it's £576 at Amazon )
The FreeviewHD "T" version is over £100 more yet apart from that and 2nd HDMI port on the side, there's no difference !
You can get a seperate FreeviewHD receiver for £30-£50 and only lose the one HDMI port. oO

Nice try Agharta but I think they're more on the ball than that. :D
#30
They must have removed the home delivery option this afternoon..
Time to look for another now!!

but thats not issue for a lot of ppl, ppl these days want all in one, less clutter, less boxes, probs even less energy. thats more of an issue for me, if had HD would have been 1st in line

I just had a PM from someone that managed to get JL to price match. I thought it was worth a punt but it is probably hit and miss depending on which member of staff process it.
#34
I've also managed to get a price match from JL. Nicola was who confirmed this via email.

I requested a priced match online with JL and they have agreed it. Only Nottingham seem to have stock with BestBuy so I used that as the location when giving details of the store for the price match.

I Cancelled mine as the Picture Quality on Standard defination Freeview was very poor indeed and did not like the sound of the " Brown Bezel " not black.
