I was in John Lewis the other day looking at TVs and this was by far the best 3D tv in my opinion. In fact I didn't want a 3D tv until I saw this one. Also you can have plenty of mates/family round to enjoy 3D without spending £££'s on glasses!

£100 cashback for Sky customers makes it 758.95

Where does it mention 7 pairs of glasses?
#2
Seen the 47" in JL And it so so much beter than those garbage active glasses, I could watch 3D all day with this. Beats me why they are still making the ones that shutter, it gives me a headache as soon as I put them on

I would love on of these, but my amp is not 3D, but heard it can force pass 3d, but not tested it

I think all these new models come with 7 pairs, they are so cheap they chuck a bunch in, the one in JL came with 7 as well.

That's what is included in the box as standard
#5
I saw little difference between a passive LG and an active Samsung at the gadget show.

Buying a set like this means I wouldn't have to spend a tonne on glasses for when friends or relatives come round.
#6
I also watched the 2d to 3d conversion of normal tv and it was really good - gave the picture some depth, although not jumping out at you like the actual 3d.
#7
So does 3G cinema mean passive then?
I knew it wouldn't be long untill the passive started dropping in price as well. I was struggling to find one below £1200 3 months ago.
#8
You seem to have missed off the £100 cashback making it £758 !
#9
I saw this in John Lewis last week and was really impressed. Still trying to hold fire though until there is more 3D content on SKY. Can't justify a new TV yet for just the odd Bluray or footy match.

Think that's just for Sky customers though? But you're right that's probably worth mentioning.

EDIT: price has changed to 959 at prc

Good point - well presented! Glad I haven't ordered yet. Is it strange that I would get this tv even though I don't have Sky?

BRILLIANT !! :D

I have the 47LW550T and it's brilliant. Got mine for £1024 after getting JL to price match Robert Whyte and £200 cashback from Sky/LG.

Waaaaaay better than active 3D, you can watch it for hours in full daylight with no eye strain or headaches. The LG app store is a bit light on aps but that will get better hopefully. This series of tv is also ISF certified. The sound is weak but I intend to get an amp soon, maybe an Onkyo 608.If you buy this set you won't be disappointed, 42" is too small for my liking though. I bought based on reviews and without a demo as I was that confident it would be good, it's not, it's excellent!

what is it like for sport! any motion problems, im quite fancing the 55" version of this one, ;)
#25
No motion problems, no clouding, no lag, no crosstalk that I've seen (got about 30 3D films), no problems at all.
#26
I was keeping a watch on these LG smart TVs. waited for reviews and price to drop as it is quite new. Looking for a 47 " model. Not sure if to wait for a bit more for the price.
Also are these LG tvs better than its similar Samsung 3d led tv comparing picture quality and price?

Whats SD material like as that's where most LCD tv's are poor
#28
SD is fine. Of course low quality channels are nothing special but then they look no better on a plasma. I don't watch much SD material though as it has freeview HD, ok, limited channels at the moment but I also have Sky HD.

The new LG series was compared to the new Samsung 7000 and 8000 series and the LG "won". I think it was what Hifi that did the test.
#30
really daft question to ask but will my PS3 be able to play 3d movies to view on this TV??

Just to let people know, I got John Lewis to price match which they did, and at 828.95 for some reason but I'm not complaining! So with 5 year guarantee I'm happy! I don't have Sky - do you think I could give the receipt and barcode to a friend who has sky so they can claim the £100?

Who did you get JL to price match with? Which JL store did you buy from?
JL price matching is much harder these days so you did very well!

When I got JL to price match Robert Whyte it was a breeze.
