The price of those are dropping quickly. Soon, we'll all be able to afford one for each room :)

Thanks for the pointer :)

very good sub £800 42" plasma tv

much better than any 42" LCD unless you are going to spend well over £1k

Alot of connections on it too, probably one of the most well connected tv's out there (my parents have one)

can you comment on SD pictures like Sky mainly ?

and why do you say that?

SD pictures are better on this than my 37" Phillips LCD screen.

You don't get the pixellation especiallly when watching football or other fast moving SD sources on this than you do on an LCD. The only 2 complaints I could have at this screen is that it doesn't allow alot of user adjustment in the settings menu, but then thats comparing it to the pioneer equivenlent which is about another £600-800 ontop of it. And the second is that there was no SKY remote code for it at the time they got it (6 months ago)

Also when viewing an upscaled DVD via HDMI it looks superb!

Also playing my Wii via component on this TV it looks great.

Unless you're willing to spend a lot of money, 42" LCDs are pants and are beaten hands down by plasmas. An £800 42" LCD will look horrible with SD and will blur dreadfully when watching fast moving sports like football.

OMG! You have just made me spend £712!!! :?

Just been out to Currys to see one of these - they're lurvely! :p So have just added one to my interest free credit card!

Thankyou!

Woohoo! Its been tracked by Quidco already - so the total cost of this TV has worked out (after 5% discount and Quidco) at £687.55! Fab bargain!!! Thankyou! :-D (delivery and installation is also included!)

Hi does anybody know what the difference is between this plasma TV and the LG 42" 42PC1DV 42 which seems identical on the tesco direct site for £699 with triple clubcard points
#15
the one on the tesco website is not HD ready

i.e. it cant put out a true HD picture due to its Resolution being 825x480p

also the DA is a newer model which is better specced and has better connections, and the Native Resolution (pixels) is 1024-by-768, thereby enabling it to display 720p properly.

for the extra £12 it is a much better deal than the tesco tv.

Yes, as above, there is always confusion with the models of this TV

LG 42PC1DA = High def, Silver Speakers
LG 42PC1D = High def, Black Speakers
LG 42PC1DV = Standard def

I was in the local Sony centre yesterday, and was looking at their flagship LCD 1080p panel linked up to a Bluray source and although the still images were impressive, suffered greatly from motion panning blur etc on faster paced material...

Thanks for pointing out the differences guys.
Just off to my local Currys store now to see if it looks as good in the flesh as it does on those pictures and if so then I will be ordering one 

Bloody typical just gone to order and its gone up to £799
