These arnt very good TV's as they are only 852x480 you want to be looking at the 42PC1D model which has freeview and the latest XD Engine :)

Also £70 postage to be added BTW, and the price is about normal for this model

Agree, this ISN'T an HD Ready unit!!
#3
Eh, yes it is. Look at it again.
#4
HD Ready is the industry stamp given to the public to say it is completely HD Ready, this has an HDMI input but is NOT HD Ready, look at the symbols, search the site for HD Ready TVs and this one doesn't come up but the model above it (which is HD Ready with all the right symbols and resolution) does..
#5
The maximum supported resolution is 852x480, ie 480p.

This isn't a true HD resolution. It may say it is in the description, but it's merely a progressive version of standard definition NTSC.

You need 720p and above to be HD.
#6
Some people / manufactures will tell you 480p is HD, but its not usually regarded as HD

I agree, but jasmac can't be blamed for the error because the advertising is done in such a way to mislead. I bought a Tevion 32 lcd one and half years ago
as HD ready, but it only has a DVI input, no HDMI. So look at the specs, not the headline banner.
Keep looking though Jasmac.

That's why I raised it here, you will see very few if any HD "compatible" sets sold on the high street because the industry watchdogs have deemed them misleading, hence the introduction of the kitemark. I didn't want people going out spending £600+ thinking they were going to get an HD Ready TV - because they aren't...
#9
..also, as you can see here, it has an HDMI input but it still isn't HD Ready.

It's simple, if you want an HD Ready TV just look for the kitemark

Hi jasmac, welcome to the forums. I've included the £69.99 delivery charge in the original post - that makes quite a difference to the price. I also added a brief description. See the link in my siggy for help on posting deals :)

You dont need a HDMI socket you can use a DVI input with an HDMI/DVI adaptor :)

i have ordered the newer version, £800 delivered from Great universal, thats including the 20% off for first order. And i can spread the cost over 40 weeks interest free. only downside is delivery time...4 weeks, It was either that or spend £400 on a basic 32" lcd.

A little addendum to this: DVI sockets sometimes don't have HDCP, which is needed to use a digital connection with Sky HD, TW HD, and HD-DVD or Bluray drives. As far as I know, all HDMI sockets will have HDCP. Worth checking either way.

Yup, all HDMI sockets will have HDCP, as its part of the spec.
