The 5 year warranty is based on the instore price..? Is this the same as the web price or do you have to go to the shop?

Im afraid thats almost impossible to answer it really depends on you and what you prefer. The LCD V Plasma (which is best )debate goes on and on. Personally I prefer plasma as I think it looks more natural, and has better motion handling capabilites at this price point? LCD arguably is better for gaming and gives a "Brighter" picture...... for me the LG is the better set.... but its a very personal choice...... go to

Spoke to PRC and the instore price with 5 year warranty is £520 and not £439 and although I can add it to my basket and enter my postcode online for free 3-6 day delivery, when I spoke to them they tell me that to order it at the instore price with the free 5 yr warranty the delivery charge is £30. I live in Sheffield, so delivery may vary or they may just be bumping the price up after getting people interesting by what initially appears to be a very good deal. So, for me the price would be £559.

Voted cold by me as John Lewis do this set at £549 with a free 5 year warranty and is backed by the excellent John Lewis customer service.

I just bought this TV and it is a cracker. £440 would be money well spent. The lack of 1080 isn't much of an issue imho. The picture in both SD & HD matches higher priced options.

To vote this cold because it is £550 in JL is mental. £110 is a lot to many people and many banks offer 2 years extended warranties on card prurchases. Most Tv faults are reported in the first two years (although this may be down to people constantly upgrading).

Got to laugh at the instore element though. There is only 1 store in Essex. And not too sure of their reputation. Mostly ok but more than a few duds.

Same company, same TV.

If unsure of PRC (and i was when i bought this TV at the beginning of the week) and you have access to a Makro card, they are £446 (inclusive of tax )

That's why I used my Egg card when I got mine from Comet :)

Same here with RBS. JL deal is great if you can get them to pricematch but at over £100 more it didn't appeal to me.

its not even 720p look at the pixel count its 1024 x 768. 720p is 1280x 720 so its actually less that 720p on pixel count.

the point is there is LCD tv`s on the market that offer better image and resoluiotn (1080p) for similar money. we all know plasma is better than LCD but only as long as its decent plasma technology. this is old plasma tech and is nowhere near as good as a modern LCD TV.

I lolled. Go out, get some fresh air and compare this TV with the crappy 'superior res' LCD's in Comet or Currys:thumbsup: Not trying to be funny, but that's what I did. Currys is probably your best bet as Comet don't seem to be able to setup a tv to save their lives

I spent four weeks reviewing TVs. Went to Currys, Comet and the rest. Checked out their specs, prices and reviews. Asked the staff to show me SD and HD pictures. This TV came out tops every time and puts others to shame, including your comparable Samsungs and Panasonics. The resolution, refresh and motion on this TV are superb. It is stylish, has USB connections that allow Divx playback and my Ps3 looks amazing on it. 1080p isn't everything. Don't believe Shengis or me (not at you "Inactive") Check out places such as AV Forums.

And have all those dismissing this TV actually seen it?

this is by far the best looking tv out there, got the 42 inch and got the 50 inch one for my parents. what it "may" lack in specs, (which i dont think it does) it more than makes up for it in looks and style. Oh and also to point out the 42 inch is actually about 48 inches due to the glass frame so bear that in mind if you dont have enough space.

Have to agree aesthetically this TV looks great with its bezel-less one piece flat panel frontage, and SD picture quality is as good as it gets from a Plasma (far better than any LCD in my opinion)
