The LG 47LD450 gives you a top quality, 47 inch 1080p, screen at a remarkable price.

With its 1080p Full HD resolution, the 47LD450 is the perfect TV to complement your HD sources such as PS3, Blu-ray player and Sky HD. LG have already built an excellent reputation for their picture and, with the 47LD450, it's not hard to see why. A contrast ratio of 60, 000:1 hints at the deep blacks and realism of depth. What the figures can't tell you is just how natural the picture is against similarly priced rivals. There's also smooth motion with a super-fast response time of just 4ms and a wide viewing angle to ensure that you everyone in the room gets a good view of the action. In short, whatever you're watching will be crisp and detailed with superb resolution and the ideal brightness.

As usual, we would always recommend using a separate home cinema system with a TV of this size but if you do use the LG's built-in sound system you might be pleasantly surprised. Using an invisible speaker system with Clear Voice II the 47LD450 sounds crisp and precise. Furthermore, the 10w + 10w power output gives it enough drive to fill larger rooms, too.

In terms of connections, the 47LD450 has all the basics covered and a very useful USB, to boot. Twin HDMI sockets allow for the connection of 2 High Definition sources, such as an HD-TV box and Blu-ray. In addition to this, the 47LD450 boasts SCART and component connections for your analogue sources. The side-mounted USB socket is extremely useful for plugging in digital media devices and playing back video and pictures on your TV. Furthermore, the PC input makes this attractive TV the perfect complement to your home computer. Topping off the wide range of sockets is a digital optical sound output - ideal for connecting this LG 47 inch LCD TV to your home cinema for a useful upgrade in sound quality.

Featuring a gloss black, slimline surround and elegant stand, the 47LD450 looks as good as it performs. It's also less deep than many rivals making it look considerably less bulky whether wall or stand mounted. Thanks to the latest technology, it's also Energy Saving Recommended. For a 47 inch 1080p LCD TV with an impressive spec and smooth, good looks, the 47LD450 is hard to beat.

Wow Brilliant price...well found!

Hot! I see the 40" + size TV's coming down in price, while 32" seem to retaining their price at around 270-300. I would love to see 32" TV's come down to £200 :D

is this 50hz or 100hz ?

is this 50hz or 100hz ?

50/60Hz. PAL/NTSC
Broadcast is only 25/30Hz so it is double Freeview's Hz, some gamers may want more than 50Hz.

Scroll down here http://www.amazon.com/LG-47LD450-47-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B003BID0KK

It indicates it as being 60hz

Noticed some cold voting here... hmm.

Perhaps there's a cheaper 47" 1080P to be found, who knows? :)

Edited By: martinelsen on Sep 16, 2010 15:43: just a minor edit.

Its actually a good deal, but there is a big different between 50hz to 100hz, must resist this offer as I like to game and watch movies.

Nice find, I bought the LG 47LH3000 back in April from richer sounds for £600 , its basically the 2009 equivilent of this tv (50/60hz, 1080p etc) and its brilliant. Xbox 360 gaming is crystal clear as is skyHD and If this set is anything like its predecessor then i dont think many people would be dissappointed with it. Also for £499 what can you realy expect, this time last year this television would have sold for almost twice that! Heat added my friend!

Remember though the LH3000 is a higher spec modal than these but still a fantastic price for a fantastic TV and the Xbox,Blu Rays etc look great on them. The sound is pretty wicked as well.

Isn't the only difference between this model and the LH3000 2xhdmi ports opposed to 3? I could be wrong of course.

I'm after a 47" - 50" LCD TV similar to this one but with HD freeview built in and 100Hz. I guess there's none knocking around for sub £600? May have to wait 6 months for them to drop in price to that level unless any deals out there?.
#17
There's no way I'd buy an LCD at this size, Plasmas are much better at this sort of size. Still, for £500 very good buy, still hot :)

Which mag voted 66% i know that sounds low but nothing touched it in terms of price for that size
they said:
It's difficult to find TVs at this price point with so many great things going for them. But LG has pulled it off with this cracking all-rounder. If you can do without all the fancy extras, then solid picture quality and a strong audio performance make this 47-inch full-HD LCD well worth a second look.

Pros: Very good picture and sound quality, effective energy-saving features

Cons: No Freeview HD tuner, low on sockets, instructions are poor

i bought this tv a few weeks ago and it is superb!! the picture quality is brilliant, we use it for gaming and for watching sport and movies and have no complaints whatsoever. we bought it when it was offer in currys and the manager served us and told us we would not get a better tv than this, unless we were spending another £1000 he said even similar tvs to this, priced around £700-800 were no where near as good as this tv. it is super!!!!

I've had the 42" version for a couple of weeks now, cracking picture, and the black levels are really good for an LCD. There is very slight colour banding depending on your settings but you have to be looking for it to find it/see it. It can be a little 'oversharp' on text, but that's adjustable too and common on LG TV's. The Menu's are very very good, and it has decent presets for colours and contrast etc. It also has extensive controls for the tweakers among us, and it even has an in-built picture wizard which lets you calibrate the TV. A little low on inputs, and no Freeview HD, but at this price, you can't go wrong really. It's certainly got one of the better pictures available right now for an LCD. No judder that I can tell (I'm a gamer), at least not on the Game setting.

The sound isn't too bad either, pretty good infact. One nice feature is the Clearvoice II which boosts the voice frequencies; my wife is partially deaf in one ear, so good sound is very important and she reckons it does help a lot. No more turning the volume up to neighbour annoying levels just so she can hear the voices properly.

It's light and assembles very easily as well. Instructions are quite rudimentary, though better ones are available online and on the supplied CD, as well as within the menu system.

Really glad I got my 42" ... but now I wish I'd waited! 47" for less than £500! Ah well :)
