meh, ours is set up instore next to the 50PK350 plasma and both on a blu ray thru HDMI splitter.
pk350 wipes the floor with this on movies, especially darker scenes. the trailers for the last harry potter and dark knight lose all detail around the edges of the screen on the LCD, its backlighting is terrible for darker scenes.

looks great on HD CGI and animation tho.

I have the 50pk350 but certain people disagree with plasmas i personally cant fault it and had it set up next to a few other lcds and it fizzed all over them on movies.

give this a whirl if you haven't already

The most popular codes are 1423, 1451, 1691 & 0206.

You can use the TV Code Look Up Tool on Sky's website. The address is: http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyhelpcentre/producthelp?nodeId=73a6e9e0-0ade-4eed-810b-cec670799bcc&articleId=2386610

Thanks for the reminder- I was in currys yesterday considering this and the 50pk350, even did a stock check for these and they'd just had 5 delivered, but no mention of this deal.
Got this tonight from richer sounds who have gone down £20 again to £479.99 ...but 5 yr warranty only £47. I thought all the plasmas looked dull even tho' I was considering the pk350 and I'm really pleased with the out of the box performance of this tv. The SD off satellite is really good - I was expecting a let-down as we mostly watch sd and downloads/avi's, the hd from satellite is not bad but not worth shouting about.
It does make me think that plasma is past it's sell-by date after viewing this tv.

totally disagree with that last statement. OK the plasma sets dont produce the whitest whites but I've never seen and LCD that could come close on colour accuracy or black depth than a good plasma.
after owning the pk590 for a few months all LCD TVs just look like big PC monitors now.

flat and lifeless, no depth.

but i guess thats why they make both types.
some prefer their tvs to look like TVs and some like the over saturated colour of LCD

Would have snapped this up in seconds if it had Freeview HD...

Ah the old Plasma vs LCD debate, it must be...ohh at least 5 MINUTES since i read anything on this topic :p.
As an owner of an LCD tv (LG 47LH3000) and a past owner of a plasma tv (Sammy 42B450) i can only give my opinion and personally i prefer the LCD displays. I will admit that the plasma had deeper blacks but in all honesty it doesnt bother me as much as it obviously does others. I bought an LCD over a plasma the second time round as i wasn't keen on potentail IR when gaming heavily or using the PC with it, just a personal preference.

This tv is basically the 2010 version of the 3000 series that i have (minus an HDMI port) and if its half as good as mine then i personally believe that for £465 you can't go wrong. Heat added.

What a childish argument , you prefer plasma , great , some people prefer LCD , to imply that the ones that prefer LCD are buying flat lifeless over saturated **** just because of your preference is both weak and juvenile ,

oh NO!!!!!!!!!!! someone on the internet called me weak and juvenile.

Just went through the steps on currys website to buy one and it said enter promotionalcode at checkout. When we did this it was no where to be found at checkjout so could not get extra off.Anybody know what I have to do???
#24
Why even compare the 50PK590 to the 47LD450?

The 47LD450 is £450 and the 50PK590 is at least £625 as far as I can see. That's like 30%-40% more. At that price it should be better.

Just found out how to get £35 off. Just onHome delivery only, not pick up in store. If item is £ 499 plus delivery chargef £30.00 comes to £529. Take off 35 comes to £494 so only saving £5, is it worth it the hassle foe a few pounds, I don't think so. I'll pick my own up from the sdhop..easier

I do not know what you are talking about mate. There is no delivery charge of £30.00. The max delivery for specifying the time of the day is about £10.00.
The delivery is free. If you are specifying the time then you have to pay extra. I am getting mine delivered on a Sunday for free.
The code you have to enter is in the last step of the checkout and it deducts £35.00 from the price of £499.00 making it £464.00 as the OP said.
If you use a cashback site like Quidco, you also get a cashback a few months later for about £17.00, if it tracks correctly.
Good luck!
#28
As above. For the impatient you can set a time and date, for the rest of us its £464 + £17 quidco which is good for a 47" set!

went into work today and ours had been moved to the front of the store showing Happy Feet on blu ray. looked great. freeview signal looks awful tho.

great for CGI, animation and gaming.
black levels for movies are pretty band tho.
very very grey on all modes. even tried some of the suggested settings from AVforums.

good price but beware its a 'when its gone its gone' deal apparently.

has anyone bought one of these from currys? i submit my card details and then i seem to get sent back to the payments page.

I ordered.
I was gonna pick it up in store as I'd have liked to have it for the weekend but when picking up in store you miss out on the £35 discount + Quidco, so I'd have to wait til Tuesday to get it delivered. Madness really. More work for them and less money :|
#34
its no wonder loads of the small stores are closing, inc the one I work at (rumoured).
the difference of just £35 on a product costing this much will stop someone going to a shop and taking it home.....speaks volumes.
also means you dont get the pressure from the sales staff of course!
#35
£35 to one guy is money he wouldn't pick up if he dropped them on the street, and for another guy it's food for his family for one month.
Not saying we fall into either category but when I tell you that my current TV cost me £50 it might give you an idea of what £35 is to me. I literally have to borrow money from the bank to pay for this TV.

am on your side, if currys did offers instore that were advertised on their site as not available to buy online at that price, they'd see a greater footfall and less pressure on sales staff to discount off the price cos of net-vouchers.

I did and experienced the same problem initially. I changed my credit card details and it went through. It seems as if they sometimes they reject a credit/debit card for no particular reason. If you try using another credit or debit card you should be OK.

awww, I preferred the insult about my dead end job.
at 33 I have no intention of growing up for aslong as I can hold off!

however, watched some of the Simpsons Movie on blu ray on this TV today and it did look great.
it does suffer on more 'real life' stuff or darker films tho.
