I have been looking at this TV for a few days now. Does anyone know if it's any good? Not many reviews about on this one.

Heat and rep added OP

47" are they having a laugh? Never heard of a 47" tv before...!
#3
Good make of TV now but NO 100 GZ (or above).

Just as important as full HD!

Although the price is not great bearing in mind you can get a samsung 42" 1080P 100 HZ for 499?

On that basis this is not hot I am afraid.

Yer works, it's not full HD though sorry mate. And it's a Plasma which is fair enough but imo you either want a LCD or you want a plasma.

Fom what I've read Samsungs have rubbish sound whereas LG's are good all round.

The TV is really good. Not noticed any issues as far as the 50Hz goes and the PS3 even with a standard SCART looks REALLY smooth. I've tried Pro Evo 2009, Gran Turismo and Street Fighter IV so far and all are looking pretty good for standard def. Same for Lord of The Rings DVD at standard def.

Going to buy a HDMI cable later so will reply back to what the quality is at full HD. In store though it looked pretty good at what they said was full HD. Sound quality is top notch.

Where do you use the June70 voucher code when collecting from store?

Where do you use the June70 voucher code when collecting from store?

You go to the Comet website online, add to basket and then apply the voucher code, towards the top of the screen. Then there will be two options; collect from store or buy online. Select "Collect From Store" put in your postcode and it will give a list of stores the TV is available to collect from.

You will be given a confirmation screen and a reference number, just quote this in store and they will charge you the basket total.

Don't forget to add your batteries or the voucher won't work.

Isn't that the same as any customer service, Surely the 1st point of call is the store you purchased from :whistling:

We have an LG TV and had to call them, had an engineer out to visit within 2 days and it was fixed. - Had no problems with them.

Bought the 42" of this a month ago, and its a cracker all round. Can only imagine the 47" is just as good, but bigger!
#20
hmm, really seriously considering this tv, was going to click the button for the sony 46w400 last night but with the decent reviews, size and price i dont think i can justify the extra for the sony (plus my missus didnt like the sony cos it was blue framed!!!!)

Excellent buy. I have owned an LG 47" for a couple of years now and at the time the going price was £1300.00 and I , at the time, had a bargain purchase for a £1000.00.An excellent TV. I also have the 37", same design model in the Dining Room and thats just as good .Not to be missed.I rate it at 5*. Voted HOT!.

I had been looking for a new TV since my LG 42" plasma went pop about two months ago, I finally went for this TV two weeks ago as it was on a 'managers special' for £749 at Comet (reduced from £899). I therefore think this is a very good price.

The picture is very good for HD broadcasts and PS3/Blu-Ray, although SD quality looked odd at first due to it being 1080p, although your eyes soon adapt and it loooks good to me now.

I went for LCD because the larger 50" plasmas would be too heavy for the stud wall i'm hanging it on.

How far do you sit from it?

I sit 9 foot from my 32", and I want to upgrade but am not sure whether to go 42" or for something this size.

Currys and PCWolrd are doing it for £699.
would they price match with dixons?
I have a insurance claim voucher only usable in currys and pcworld.

I asked in PC World and the assistant said none of their stores match Dixons. I haven't checked to see if this is true but from experience they try so hard to get out of it that it's not worth the effort.

Connected the PS3 yesterday via HDMI. Quality is AMAZING! I cannot believe I have gone without a high def TV for this long.

i'm going to be hanging it on a stud wall too,do you strengthen the stud wall first, i have plsterboard on a breeze block type wall beneath. I was going to cut the plasterboard out and screw directly to the plasterboard.

just bought mine and had confirmation from dixons. Anyone seen a decent wall bracket for it on there travels?
#28
Just picked this up (and a pack of batteries to use the voucher) from Comet..... excellent value. Played COD:WAW on the Xbox and its an excellent picture on the settings straight from the box (looks even better when swopped to Game settings), sat approx 10ft away. H+R left.
ps makes my 32"LCD look like a little portable - this is huge.

Whats it like with freeview?

So tempted to get this. I am in the same boat as you almost. Have a 32 and sit 9 foot away, but the other couch is 7 foot away. You think this will be too big for me, does it dominate the room?
#30
danny-mac; I havent tried the freeview but Virgin (cable) looks very good and i havent really fiddled with all the settings yet. I actually dont think it dominates the room, but that is only my opinion.....for the price and using that June 70 voucher code i would get yourself off to Comet right now.
#31
Just picked one up. Gonna stick it on the wall now, just have to get the kids out of the way first.
#32
Hahaha, it's a room dominator. But i like it.

It was the same bracket i had the 32" on. One size fits all type thing.

I can't find one the same but I'll try to find a couple of cheap ones suitable.

I have the bottom of the image at 1 metre high. Ideally I think it should be 80 to 90 cms but I am scared my 18 month old daughter would force iggle piggle though it.

edit http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000RIXEVW/ref=ox_ya_oh_product

or ebay Item number: 260394125122

Those are both slimline. You don't really need tilting. I think if you need to tilt it, it's too high.

yep know what you mean, I currently have a 42 inch plasma leant against a wall as i wasnt sure if we were going to buy a new tv before i bought the LG (incidently the missus text me lunchtime to say its arrived!!!:) today) and I have three daughters 6, 4, 2 and i'm scared stiff that one of them will accidently fall into it. All there lives they have had a tv on the wall so having up close and personal is something new to them:-D I've seen a couple of wall brackets on ebay for about £30.00 that said they can take a 47inch tv so might just go for one of those
#37
well raced home from wor, spent a hour or two getting rid of the sony amp as i dont need that now. Havent got a wall bracket yet but using it..... only have freeview at the moment and although its not great its ok watchable. one thing is its saying the signal is low and there the hard drive in the freeview wont record any channels!!!

heres a pic, only taken with my blackberry bold!!
Excuse the house, only just moved in : )

You can activate your usb port to play music, photos and movies (mkv´s with 1080p working!) through the service menu. (LH 3000 - 7000, maybe 2000 too)
You can reach the service menu by pressing "OK" on your remote and "OK" on your TV. Password is "0000".
Once you entered the service menu, go to option 3 and change "divx movie playback via usb" to "HD". Change JPEG to "1".
Use the return key on your remote to leave the service menu.
Now you can use your USB port to play Videos, even 1080p mkv files

Has anyone noticed an annoyingly loud buzzing noise coming from this set when the backlight isn't set to full?

Already returned one set, wondering if it's a fault or a 'feature'.

Cheers :)
