you can get the 50" 50ps3000 for a few quid extra

Using Topcashback makes this TV under £596 which is a great price.

But I went with the 50" PS3000 like Arfawn said for under £642.

There's only one way to find out...

I had this dilemma last year, decided on lcd. about six months ago my aunt bought a plasma which suffered from screen burn. She didn't know of the white screen feature or what evere it is called, but still, something which ultimately affected my decision initially (screen burn, not my aunts problem, as this happened after I purchased my tv).

This is an excellent tv- wish i had bought this instead of my samsung !

Bought this a while back for my kids playroom. I was going to buy another for the lounge and got the 50 inch LG p6000 plasma for the lounge, the sky standard def looks much better on the plasma than the lcd.

I bought this tv after deciding between this and the plasma, the hi def on this is so much brighter and clearer and no concern of screen burn, also there is a neat trick i learnt in the service menu that enables tv to play hidef content from a hardrive straight thru usb like the much more expensive lg's:thumbsup:

I have a 42LH4000, and a friend has the 42LH3000, both of which have USB. This should, shouldn't it?

If so, you can change a setting in the service menu so that you can play HD video via the USB slot (have tried 720p and 1080p DivX AVI's, and MKV's, which all worked fine).

If it does have USB, do the following -
While the TV is off, press OK on remote and TV together at same time and turn the TV on. About 5 seconds later the request for password appears - type 0000 and press OK - go to service option 3 and change DivX to HD.

Thank you. I had been looking at the same LH3000 but in the 42". I'm glad i didn't buy it last week.
So, i've just been to comet and got one of instead, and it looks massive.

LG is a great brand and this TV is brill.

wont probably work now as the new stock as the newer firmware that stops you accessing the service menu via the remote and tv buttons firmware ending 15 works 24 dont

True, but you can change the firmware to an older one, change the settings then flash it back.

edit...on googling it looks like only the lh4000 can play divx.

I tried the DIVX hack and i do have the option. I plugged a USBKey in, but i dont have an input for the USB. Am i mising something?
Thanks.

I have an LH4000, and they don't play DivX or MKV by default, only images. I had to hack my firmware to get videos working.
And yes, you can roll back the firmware, change the settings, then install the new firmware again (if needed).

Also, it's not just the LH4000. A friends 42LH3000 also plays DivX and MKV's after the hack.
