I'm waiting for CES, January 6-9th, that's where new OLEDs would be announced, along with any price drops that implies.

OLED will be nice, but its like waiting for the change for decent LED prices when plasma was the new thing

Been looking at this TV and the 55 inch version. Does anyone know anywhere that's doing it with the 5 year guarantee. Tried richer sounds and John Lewis but don't stock it.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to have reviewed this television online.

The closest that can be found is a review of the next model up in the range (UB850V)

Together with an updated article following an LG firmware update which addressed some significant issues with PQ

#23
i own both 49ub830v £699
and the 55ub830v £899
good for the money
dont bother with the 820v
extra £50 3d and 5 year warranty
i brought mine from rgbdirect

One point to bear in mind is that all of these LG 4k TV's run IPS panels, and even with electronic tricks such as local dimming, black levels are generally poor.
#25
Just bought one. And watching netflix on it. Its incredible. Even my av amp sounds better than with my old tv

Can anyone tell me whether there is any benefit to 4k tvs over 1080p when used as a PC display.. E.g. In a meeting room instead of a projector.

Typically it would be driven by a laptop. Not sure of max resolution of the graphics in the laptop. Could be dedicated graphics or builtin.

If 1080 does it look as good as native 1080p tv, better or worse?

Thanks

I have the 55ub850v and picture is brilliant.

not sure what 820v variant is though. sometimes it's bezel colour etc and may not have magic remote

That because LG uses planned obsolescence. There's a capacitor that blows between years 3 and 5 to make you buy a new TV.
