LG 50" Plasma with 1080p - £590.00. @ Cheap LCDTVs

Apologies if posted before, this is my first deal. My parents have said that I can get a TV for Christmas for my room. Stumbled across this and I thought it was a pretty good deal. I haven't seen many new 50" Plasma's with 1080p going for this price. I really wanted the 1080p so I could use the PS3 with it.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone and if this is not as good as I think it is, please let me know before I buy it.

Seasons greetings!

Anyone know how this compares to the 50" Samsung in Richer Sounds for £499.99???

Not a big fan of Plasma's as they tend to have a far lesser shelf life than LCD's but this is a pretty good deal.

A very good price for a 50" 1080P TV!
I wouldn't be that bothered about the graded status - the description doesn't mention that it will be cosmetically marked, just EOL or no box.

Plasma are better for movies and LCD better for games but for this money, I don't think you'll find a 1080P LCD.

How big is your bedroom anyway?
I've got a 50" plasma in my BIG living room and it dominates the room!
Plasmas also belt out a fair bit of heat so if your bedroom is uncomfortable in summer, think again!

hope you've got a big room !

be a bit cautious about this site . . . :?

Plasma's have come a long way since the beginning , I myself prefer Panasonic and Philips

How are Plasma's for Screen burn??, if you use a Console on it set a screen saver or dont leave a static image to long if they are still bad for Screen burn that is.

Not as bad as they used to be I don't think. My 5 year old panny is showing no signs of any at all. Though it has had very little console use.

My Samsung plasma was bad for screen burn for the 1st 100 hours or so but it's fine now - I've left the same image on for a couple of hours with no burn.
Even if you do create a burn, most have a sweeping contrast mode you can run to remove it.

It's about 16' x 12'. I'm planning on mounting it on the long-sided wall and have my bed opposite, purely to be as lazy as possible, lol. Just now, I'm watching everything on my 14" portable one. When it cuts off the score of a game, or the sides or a film, it really annoys me. Hence why, I want to boot the **** out of it with this telly, haha.

So, is this worth getting?

As the guy said above, I hope you've got a big room. I've got a tele probably identical to that, and sitting the other side of the room it still seems big at times.

Depending on how close you'll be sitting to play games, you might have to move your head, not just your eyes which will impede your ability to notice that guy with the riot shield in the corner (MW2)
I generally watch films from 12' away and play games from 8' away

Another point to be wary of is the weight of these things...
Mine is over 7 stone so it had to go on an exterior wall.

I don't know anything about the site so do your research but if you're not bothered about your room's asthetics or feng shuei, get it!

It would be going on the wall that's got brick on the other side. It's gonna be either Uncharted 2 or Fifa that's getting played on it. I am absolutely horrendous at MW2, played it on my brother's 360. He's got a 37" LCD in his room on his desk. I sit about two feet away from it when I'm playing a game.

When he got his, and the one downstairs (the 42" version of this deal, I think)... I noticed that the picture was terrible, the pixels were huge. However, it's settled down and the pictures on both are quite good. Is this expected?

2 feet away? You'll be visiting the optician soon then ;-)

If this is whilst gaming, I'd assume that the output resolution is too low.
If this is from freeview or similar, it's to be expected...
If you send SD content through an HD screen, it looks worse than through a SD screen as the TV has to make up the missing pixels from the sparse input signal.

I bought this TV a few weeks ago refurbished (same as this) - got it delivered for £507 using a freely available 20% discount code

got it from www.bargaincrazy.com - the price went up a few days later but it's still on par with this price now

very good picture, surprisingly high quality sound also, plus 12 months warranty

BARGAIN!

not necessarily - look at their full graded explanation and it includes used and repaired returns from other electrical stores - don't know about you folk but I wouldn't pay this price for what could easily be a second hand tele with a warranty
