dont forget 3% Quidco, thats approx £23 so makes it £740ish sorry ruff calculations.
I was in Morrisons today & they had a 42" 1080p LG for £699 hooked up to a bush dvd player and the picture was horrible, all fuzzy, might be coz it was hooked up to a poor quality dvd player and 4 tellys were running of the same dvd. Prob wud hav ben better image if they ran it off the freeview. Anyway for that reason I wudnt buy L&G, my m8 also has one and he isnt best pleased with his 37 lcd L&G...

I wouldnt go by what you saw in Morrisons. They obviously have no idea of how to set up a tv for display purposes. It would more likely put me off the Bush DVD player than the TV. Also if they had the same DVD player for the display on 4 TVs the bad picture was most likely caused by the splitter box they were using. If you set up a TV like that ANY make would look bad. Youre best off going to a specialist TV seller for a demo and then finding the cheapest place to buy it.

Ive got this TV and I love it - got mine for 749 delivered in October 2007

I agree, it sounds like they don't have a clue how to set up a display for plasma TV's and it also sounds like they weren't using a HDMI cable to further enhance the picture quality.

It isn't great that it's a 768 resolution though, it could be better but it's difficult to find 50" plasmas near this price.

i have a different model LG a 44" dlp - picture is fabulous - shame it breaks down every year(always at xmas) and why i am currently watching a 20" at the moment
my missus calls LG - Lousy Goods
thing is when it works its great - considering a 60" LG so hope we were just unlucky with this model

this deal sounds good shame its not 60"

Good offer, but never seen delivery fee of anywhere near £80 before!

Might be of interest to read a few previous customers experience of this company too, although could be nothing:

only budget if you can afford Sony, otherwise its a 50" HD PLASMA TV........:w00t:

Are they the same company as Sound and Vision? They r both in Bolton and the prices are Identical, the only difference being that the delivery is free with S&V as its already bundled into the price of the item.
Also I see why they would do this because some price compare sites like Foundem list by price before delivery first, thus making the digital direct price top of the list. Crafty:shock:

I would suggest nobody buys from DigitalDirect after reading that thread at MSE. Instances of credit card fraud and e-mail phishing seem to be commonplace for them. Just note that for £832 you can get the LG 50PC56 from Dixons, a reputable company (more than digitaldirect at least). The Pc56 is not only newer but also has 100Hz technology.

Just use the voucher code MYVC20 in the checkout for £20 off and don't forget to use Quidco!

It does sound like it because they are both based in Farnworth, but I don't think so, I've used S and V a few times in the past and would do again.

Look at there prices though, identical for everything. Just s&V include del in price and DD u add at the end. All amounts to the same price though, and i will bet that DD wont allow you to pick up to save on that extortionate delivery charge.

Yeah right Samsung below LG!!! You obviously haven't read any reviews or reliability reports. Sony don't seem to do much with regard plasma. Just old models I believe. The true list is probably;

Fujitsu>Pioneer>Panasonic>Samsung>Hitachi>Philips/LG>generic chinese models (orion, bush, goodmans, wharfedale etc).

I'm not knocking LG as they are perfectly good sets most of the time but it would be totally unjustified to put them above samsung not only do samsung review higher but also are known to be more reliable. Philips/LG models are some of the cheaper models available and on the AV forums there is a thread about philips using too low a grade of capacitors in their plasmas meaning a short working life before repair and both LG and Philips share similar designs and components and are known to collaberate on a lot of products especially displays. I realise the Hitachi's tend to have a weaker black performance worse than LGs but are generally more reliable and offer a good hd performance in general.

SD picture quality on this screen is pretty poor, HD picture is ok. Power consumption is horrendous - its in the region of 340watts

LOL!!!!!! Fujitsu better than Pioneer LOL!!!!! Sorry mate but the Kuro range are the best plasma's on the market unless you go to the silly priced Runco's. Strange you rate philips so low down on that list as they basically just use fujitsu/hitachi screens in their own bezel with the built in speakers.

We got this TV before christmas in the Currys Sale Deal.

Great TV and no complaints here. Sound, picture, quality all spot on. Do get temporary image retention sometimes when i've been on the PS3 quite a while but its never been that noticeable or lasts that long. In fact, i think no one else in the house has ever realized. Great for the PS3, amazing value for money and would highly recommend...

have you got this TV then or have you just seen it in currys? :whistling:

SD is great on mine and HD is best I have ever seen.

just what sort of power consumption would you expect to see from a 50" plasma! Remember its 4 times the screen area of a 26" TV so 400W is fine. Keeps the room nice & warm too in winter :-D

Yeah actually Fujitsu are seen as better as Pioneer by many. I couldn't afford one so won't argue the case but there are dealers that have fujitsu as their premium brand and pioneer below it. Also as I'm sure you are aware with plasmas its more about video processing than the glass/screen itself. The fujitsu processing is generally something special. Hmm I was told by a Philips service engineer that LG were supplying the glass to philips and they were basically LG designs. As you may be aware LG & Philips jointly own LCD manufacturing plants and so obviously both use these LCD panels. I think you'll find that fujitsu get some pretty good reviews even at their stupidly high prices. They make Pioneer pricing look fair.

Sony have stopped making plasmas (link) so if you are comparing LCDs they are a completely different market.

Erm, not correct.

The LG 50PC56 is exactly the same as the 55 except the 55 has a silver strip at the bottom The 56 is a DSG stores exclusive model, which helps them get around price matching issues.

The 100 hz question doesn't arise on plasma technology. However, there is an element of confusion as to why the description is being applied to both models by different retailers, with no clear explanation from LG. There are a few threads on AV forums regarding this.

I've got the 55 and I personally think the silver strip gives a little relief from such a big slab of black but that wasn't the only reason - I paid £750 ish delivered few months ago. It's a fantastic set for the price:thumbsup:

£779 now inc. delivery http://www.flattelly.co.uk/shop/50pc55-plasma-digital-ready-p-1443.html

Ive just bought a panasonic 50" from sound and vision, and can guarantee there both the same company. You end up paying for the TV in sound and vision and being sent to the warehouse to pick it up, which is where the other company is listed.
