Very good price - well spotted

Price looks good and there's some fair reviews on Amazon, but there's a post over at AV forums that concerns me, see here (quoted below): http://www.avforums.com/forums/13716238-post18.html

ok so this is my review of the LG 50pk350

saw the deal that Richer Sounds were doing and gotta say i was very impressed by the price, so purchased one for myself and one for my dad,

got home opened it up an i must say i was very impressed with the look and feel of the tv, hooked it up swithed it on and messed around with the settings (as recomended on this forum) and tbh i wasnt really impressed with the picture quality or the colours, another good thing i found was the setup program in the LG was excellent and so easy to use, people with no common sense wouldve been able to set up the tv with ease so hats of to ya for that LG, by far the best setup interface ive used to date

the picture itself was very dull or greyed out even, after 3 days or trying many different settings i came to the conclusion that its impossible to get a brilliant white or a deep black, people faces were red greens were where they shouldnt be and blues were to bright in contrast to any of the other colours

as this is the bottom range in the series i can only come to the conclusion that this tv is absolute crap and not worth buying for home use, i would however buy it if i needed to put up a large screen in a restaurant or some sort of business,

before i returned both the tvs to Richer Sounds Chiswick i went into my local Currys superstore to do some comparisons, on the top shelf they had 7 tvs side by side 46" - 50", they ranged from Samsung, Phillips, Panasonic, Sony and LG, what i found was the Samsung and Panasonic had the best looking and sharpest pictures, the LG pk350 had the lowest quality picture in the whole store! the next models up had a better and brighter picture and the 50PX series was even better still but still not as good as Panasonic or Samsung

i stongly advise people against buying this tv if its for home use, you dont wanna end up buying and and not being happy with it for the next 5-10 years, my dad ended up buying the panasonic G20 50" plasma,
me in still undecided between the Sony Bravia 46 and the Samsung LE46C652, but im leaning more towards the Samsung if im honest due to better styling

for the price it does look like a steal but wouldnt u rather put in an extra £100 and get a picture your happy with rather than looking at a picture you have to put up with

AV forums own review looks a little better though: http://www.avforums.com/review/LG-PK350-50PK350-Review.html

May have simply been a duff one or someone who is over picky, it's all so subjective you really need to see it in the flesh and have a play with it to make sure it's something you are happy with tbh

Absolutely. However, one thing that keeps popping up in the reviews I've read is game lag - some say it's serious whilst others state 'bearable', so be careful if you or a family member is into gaming.

I have this telly and it's great. No complaints what so ever. It's not a Panasonic but it's far cheaper and the outer casing is sleek and sexy.

It also plays everything I can through at it on my USB HDD upto 15GB MKV's although it doesn't support DTS sound only AC3.

I bought mine from Richer Sounds for £550 before XMAS.

Had the older version of this Tv and when it ran out of warranty and broke LG weren't interested and gave me the number of a firm that deal with their equipment, they wanted over £400 (through monthly direct debit, (contract)).
Had the Tv looked at by a reasonable Company but it was un-economical to repair.
I've bought a new Tv now and it's NOT an LG, also my electric consumption gone done as I've bought an Led Tv.

Apologies for spelling(I just get mad as the Tv cost me over a grand )

I have had one of these TV's for about 6-7 months and I got to say it is pretty average, after much research I bought this but picture quality is not good enough. Whether you watching a movie, gaming or normal tv (sd is absolutely awful). I'm going for an LCD now totally put off plasma's.

LCD will have much worse SD viewing as it just can't handle it, its hard to have good SD on a 50inch screen unless you have an upscaling box. Colours are more garish and less accurate on SDs

I have this TV and it is a fantastic TV. The picture quality is excellent and far better than my parents Panasonic. I think I will order another one at this price for the spare bedroom.

I have this one as well as a Samsung 3d; the Samsung is slightly better, but for the price the LG is fantastic.

A full HD 50" for under 500.... you cant complain if its not sharper than a £2000 fullHD tv. Price reflects the quality. Simpless

I have this TV, I think it is amazing :-)

Well... I must point at the problem with the LG plasma: USERS!!
I have one of this and just after a year when a friend came and "play" with it got the best from it.. and really is brilliant. Far better for the LCD (Samsung 42") on my room and close to the new LED pc monitor. At £1/inch go and buy it!!

Or instead you could spend another £150 and get a 50" Panasonic G20 and be sorted for the next 10 years.

How do you explain the lack of in-built VHS?

Bought this telly in October, fantastic picture on SD and HD, use it for Xbox too. Cannot believe the negative reviews about it, its superb.
