Don't see why dixon's have it on - 5% (dixon5) + quidco voted cold.

Yup..the screen of choice for movie fans...rather than an "artificial looking ol' LCD"

Is the 600hz on a plasma the same as 600hz on LCD or LED?

Got this from Dixons a few weeks a go when it was £549, had £19quidco track.

Excellent tv although you may need a hdmi junction box if you have more than 2 hd units you want connecting up.

For the price its a bargain, really happy with it.

Looked at this before getting the 990 but the price then was higher than this.

I'd check Richer Sounds and the 5 years guarantee though if available.

Dont think were quite up to speed with a 600hz lcd/led yet. I have c680 samsung 3d and that is 600hz 50" plasma. And its a great set for games, sky hd etc. First plasma ive bought and i love them now!!! Had a 40lg lcd before that. Big improvement.

Pending if anyone found one cheaper, this is a great price for a good set.

LED?

LED is the new LCD

No, it's referring to something else entirely. As with all plasmas, the equivalent for this set is 100hz.

LCDs need "high hz" because of problems they have with motion blur. Plasmas don't have the same problem, so it's not something you should look for when considering one - it's just completely irrelevant for them.

Exactly right. Plasmas are 100Hz to stop flicker, whereas LCD's have it to help with their poorer motion handling.

The 600Hz figure refers to the sub-field drive which is only really touted tbh to have a big number against LCD's with say 200Hz refresh rates and consumers automatically think the bigger the number the better.

The PK series is hardly going to reduce until it is completely sold off. Actually prices rose considerably after Xmas. The 990 I got for around £800 is now double that and the 590 which was available for £600/£650 has routinely been prices over £700 and up to £800 since.

Whilst the PX series (3D) may not be the future, there will be a new series out. As for the internet Netcast thing, it is not worth waiting for. My guess is internet TV on a useful scale is some time off.

True Amazon did PK590 for 626 even Dixons... I would hav definitely gone for that if it was now... but I settled for pk350 at 541gbp with Dixons.. I think its a great price, never seen pk350 for lower anyway...

Dixons via quidco use the code:dixon5

Thats relying on quidco to track.

And for those without Quidco/TCB?

I have this telly. It is superb, works fine with my PS3 and XBOX 360. Yep it doesnt have Freeview HD but i didnt need it anyways. Has two HDMI ports and also a USB port that i use to connect my external harddisk. It plays most of the popular video formats that i download like xvid, divx, x264, ts, mkv so if i download a high def 720 or 1080p movie i can watch it via usb. I have been using it for the past one month and love everything about it. Was about to buy the 50lgpk590 put dont regret getting this as it has the same screen anyways.

Loads of places arent going to be getting freeview hd for a good while anyway. My end is getting late on in year. So if people are worried check see if they can recieve by googleing it. If not, wait 6months n the set or one of different brand of equivalent spec may be cheaper.

richer sounds are a nonsense retailer, amazon are superb

Its brother LG 50pk590 which uses the same panel has received a remarkable rating in almost all reviews... So, expect this set to be if not equally great, about the same range.

Major differences between the two models: 2 x HDMIs (4 in 590, get a HDMI switch, I saw for 15 quids online), Freeview ( Freeview HD in 590, if you have Sky+HD its useless anyway... if you don't have Sky+HD then get one!), No internet connection ( 590 has Netcast which basically allows you to watch youtube vids, etc. Personally not a big fan, but if you do want this you can get a Sony BD S370 Bluray player retails at about 99gbp offers a lot more than Netcast).

There is also a THX certification for pk590, which has best picture settings out the of box... in 350 you may have to tweak a bit.. loads of help on forums, but its down to personal taste.

The difference in price between 590/350 is about 150/200 depending on the offer around. If the differences mean a lot to you, go for the 590, but I just bought the pk350 (arriving tomorrow) and for the price its the best piece of hardware I am gonna get.

You can also buy this off Dixons (570gbp) can apply code Dixons5 to get 5% off and go through quidco for another 21gbp.. bringing price down to 520gbp... but Dixons has a very bad reputation with customer service. I went for Dixons in spite of this because, they had Sat delivery where as Amazon doesn't do that... without a car, its impossible for me to pick up from the depot.

One other feature the TV has is that it can play .mkv files through the USB, but only files that are less than (4gb) which is such a bummer. But TV shows, etc in full HD should be fine.. I would suggest getting something like the Western Digital Live TV, which plays pretty much every format you could think of.

If you had gone for the 590 you could have steamed your media from your PC, it is DLNA certified.

just got it today from Dixons... absolutely great! reflection is quite apparent, but in the dark... omg, blown away! I am watching Avatar in 1080p... I am lovin it all over again. If you want a super bright room n this telly, it won't wrk... but my room has got one window in the side.. not so much reflection. I am glad I went for this instead of edge lit LEDs.

Had this delivered TODAY (Yes, a Sunday!) from Dixons and I paid £541 and will be getting £21 Quidco too,
I got this price by using a 5% code: Dixons5

This is therefore NOT hot as Dixons sell it cheaper after Quidco...
