not a bad price for a big tv

Creeping down in price along with the 590, getting tempted but must be patient.

Isn't 600Hz low for a plasma?

Not yet, that's what I am waiting for.

I bought one of these from Richer Sounds for £549 a few weeks ago. Had to replace my 8+ year old hitachi plasma, which cost me £2500!!. Excellent value, great picture. Can't comment on sound quality as using an AV amp.

The 50PK590 is exactly the same panel except it has an HD tuner and an extra HDMI. It all depends if you want to pay +£100 extra. I have Sky HD so there was no point.

Voted hot.

only optical audio out too?

I have the 50PK590 (same panel) and I have to say that both TV's are amazing - the picture quality is simply out of this world.

Be wary on screen burn tho!

You realise that mid-range plasmas like this have a much better picture than all except the most expensive LCD's?

Plus THX certification ...:p

This is a great bargain if you are looking for a no-thrills TV that will give you a stonking picture on Standard Def, Gaming & High Def material ... be interesting to see if LG can better their 2010 range with the upcoming ones.
#19
buying new TV in April, so hopefully the price will drop a little further by then, hoping to get the 590 for under £550.00
#20
THX cert means sod all. Since every THX approved screen/theatre etc needs setting up for the individual room it is in for optimal quality. Thus means the THX cert means nothing. Its just a sales tool.

Bought this last week from Dixons for £514 (less than £500 if Quidco pays out) and I must say it's ace.
#26
Any suggestions how to connect speakers to this TV? There is no headphones jack..
#27
You can connect an AV amp with speakers using the optical digital out, but there is no analog audio out or headphone jack.

You might be able to use a scart adapter to get audio output. A little adapter with a scart connector and usually 2 rca audio plugs and 1 video. It has to be the right configuration : output. Some have a switch so you can select in/out, others are input only (no good).
