Deals fiend - How you finding this tv having had it for a month?
#6
outstanding price, I have the 590 (I think it is) and the picture is amazing. Far superior to my (expensive) Sony LCD I had before.

Well the reflective screen can be an issue on this tv but that depends on the lighting in your room and the fact that it only has 2 HDMI ports, but again this can be easily resolved by buying a splitter. But yeah other than those 2 faults am loving this tv and at this price I definitely recommend.

Buying a tv that big you'd get an amplifier to go with it. They usually have 4-5 HDMI inputs. I recommended the onkyo 608 to my friend yesterday and he was happy with it :)

Overall I like this tv but in the sunlight it turns into a mirror. The other issue I have is ghosting. Its most obvious when the white credits are on at the end of a film. Couple of months old but been like that from new. Is that normal?
#10
Bought this tv from richer sounds just last week for £549.00 including their 5 year guarantee. (the actual cost of the tele alone was £499.95, or thereabouts)

Anyway I am more than happy with it and I am currently 'running it in' for about 200 hours. All settings are therefore quite low although pic is watchable.
Wonder what settings I should use when my 200 odd hours are up in order to get the best pic quality?
#11
I purchased this item in the sales at the start of this year price then was £600 from Curry's, 4 Month's on I am very happy with the purchase, I get no Ghosting whatsoever or any Mirror effect, This Tv is that good I grabbed this offer also, Heat added.

Did you 'run' yours in?

Is input lag as bad as other budget plasmas? Looking for a tv for our office, I want a budget 40" sony LCD as they're generally excellent for gaming, but willing to consider a plasma as its freezing in our office
#14
At this price, no better telly out there... Just make sure you set all settings (brightness, contrast, etc) <50 for the first 200hrs... allow the TV to burn evenly, and then adjust according to your desire... I have done that for mine and its perfect. If you have lot of light coming into your room then this is not your choice.. I bought thick drapes just so that its watchable during bright day.. but then again, I rarely ever watch during the day...

How can you get no mirror effect with this tv ? It is a mirror.
I was considering this in Nov. but got 47ld450 instead because of the glare problem and dull-looking picture.

How does your 47ld450 perform?
#17
Got this via Richer Sounds today with the 5 year cover, worked out at 550.
cheaper than the 5 year cover with amazon and dixons even with the 469.99 price.

If you're thinking about buying a tv of this size at this price point, I'd go for the 50PK350 over the 47LD450 ten out of ten times - far better picture, bigger screen, sleeker design, bigger user base etc.

A bit late now for you, but I've found that Richer Sounds will price match. Some staff are more begrudging than others to do so, and I generally favour one local store that's a tad further out than my very most local - as the staff in the former seem more happy to make a sale - but I can't think of one instance where they've not pricematched. And then offered me the 5 year guarantee at 10% of the price matched price.

awesome price!

i bought this tv about 2/3 months ago from amazon for £483. great price for the tv, but i do have some issue.

good points-

- price considering size of tv
- good picture quality
- quite thin
- nice design
- good remote control design although quite long
- plays most movie formats through usb, although does not have all sound codecs.

bad points-
- does get quite hot - save on heating bill :)
- very reflective
- appalling remote, have to point it directly to sensor (bottom right)
- 2 hdmi ports
- no headphone jack
- notice a bit of blur when watching football, sky sports HD and itv HD
- quite alot of image retention (hint - keep orbitor on at all times when using tv) - white wash solves some of the problems

conclusion, like i said great price for the size of tv, some of the problems can be solved such as lack of hdmi ports by purchasing a splitter. Although the biggest problem can not be solved easily, if you do not have an AV system like me, then you will have to suffer with the appalling infrared remote control which you have to point directly at sensor.

Baring in mind everything i listed, you will not be able to beat this price, Hot!!!

HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICE BLUR/GHOSTING EFFECT WHEN WATCHING FOOTBALL?

Asked about the pricematch and they said that their deal was better with the 5 year cover

what shall I do

cancel the sale as it not delivered until friday?

or go in Monday and and say that dixons offered me a better deal and see if they do the difference

I'd do this, under the subtle 'threat' that you're thinking about cancelling the order - ie "Hi, I've ordered a tv with you for delivery next week, but I've since found it cheaper elsewhere. Would you be able to pricematch, as chances are if not I'd cancel my existing order with you and buy from one of your competitors?".

As I said, it's largely dependent on which member of staff you get - some act like they're doing you a favour when you're buying at the advertised price, whereas others are friendly and accommodating when pricematching. If they're not willing to budge, and you'd prefer to buy from Richer Sounds for the peace of mind guarantee, then you're only paying £30 more.

I've bought from Amazon rather than Richer Sounds in this instance as I had a giftvoucher to use with Amazon, and because getting a 50" tv home would have been a chore. Otherwise I'd have given Richer Sounds a go.

Not sure what to do now as the squaretrade 5 year policy is £110 or 3 year is £74 with amazon, but both with accident damage!

With that its
either
543 - 3 years cover
579 - 5 years cover

I paid 550 for 5 years cover with richer sounds.

Which card should I play - say its cheaper with Dixon offer 469 and then cancel - if they dont accpet it then get money back and go to amazon. Then I am left with above options.
if they do then I get some money back

worth the hassle

What is orbiter?

its a feature built into all lg plasma tvs, basically the tv images moves every couple of minutes to prevent static image thus reducing the chance of image retention. by the way you wont notice the image moving.

It's upto you. Despite the policy stated on the website - ie. they only pricematch taking into account the cost of the 5 year guarantee - I've found the staff at the Richer Sounds I go to (Prestwich) happy to pricematch. In fact on occasion they've never even checked the cheaper price quoted (I imagine they're aware of cheaper prices).

For example I got the Onkyo 608 on release from them. Richer Sounds were charging £450 (it's RRP) but some other place - Peter Tyson or somewhere else - were selling it for £400. I mentioned this, got the Onkyo for £400, paid £40 extra for the five year guarantee, and cheekily asked them to chuck in a subwoofer cable (which I also got). All with a smile.

Depends on the staff. I don't shop at the Manchester store, despite it being closer to me, as the staff there - in contrast to the Prestwich store - are knowingly arsey.

oh man dont know...

ok then I will ring them tomorrow and act that there was a price offer on dixons and will they honour a price match since I am losing out. if they mention the cover I will tell them that a cover with accdient damage is also better value

worth a try

cheers for the input/hlep

I wouldn't take that tactic, as they'll know what you're spinning a yarn.
