BestBuy (Thurrock, Essex) has this TV on Display at £549.99.
That's £100.00 cheaper than all the rest.

With a large 50-inch screen and the sort of glorious picture and vivid colours only a plasma TV can offer, the LG 50PK590 50” Plasma TV brings the cinema, the concert or the stadium right into your front room, and has great extra features including built-in Bluetooth, Freeview and USB.

It's difficult to beat a plasma screen for rich colours, properly black blacks and great response times when showing fast action, and the 50PK590 form LG is no exception. Offering a stunning picture from its very large Full-HD 1080p screen, this plasma will make all of your Blu-ray films, next generation video games and HD TV channels really shine. LG's 500Hz plasma technology eliminates motion blur and offers razor sharp response times, making it the ideal set for watching action films or fast-moving sports.

Built in Bluetooth technology means that the 50PK590 can offer you a living room without wires, where you can instantly view images or documents onscreen without ever needing to plug anything in. Bluetooth technology allows you to connect to mobiles, headsets, headphones, laptops and PCs seamlessly for a totally integrated home entertainment experience.

With three HDMI inputs, the 50PK590 plasma television is set up to handle a range of inputs, including games consoles, Blu-ray players, satellite receivers, camcorders and more. A built in USB socket means that you can plug in your camera, MP3 player or a USB memory stick and look at your holiday snaps, enjoy your music collection, or watch HD films in DivX format.

The LG 50PK590 50” Plasma TV comes with built in Freeview, so all you need to do is plug it into your existing aerial to be able to experience the full range of free-to-air terrestrial digital channels.

me to replace my ailing sony bravia 50!

That price is for the 50PK350 which is from the same model line as the PK590 but only comes with 2 HDMI sockets and no Freeview HD.
They both use the same display screen.

i've been casually looking at LED tv's, and £500 will get me a 40/42inch LED tv. but this....ooooooh...it's massive, and plasma i gather will give as colourful a picture as LED... good to see prices keep getting lower.

Sorry, just to be clear, an LED 'Backlit' TV @ about £500 for this price is about right - if you want a 'Full' LED TV well, I dont think they make them this size, and if they do it will be thousands.

watch for image bleeding on these, common fault on an otherwise great TV, mine went back to Dixons for a full refund.

ha ha! i wondered if my comment would fall foul of the anti-marketing brigade ;-)
the term "LED TV" means the same thing to 99% of the population- an LCD TV with an LED backlight. yes, blame the marketing but if i'm talking about spending £500 i'm not talking about a true LED screen. although i'd like this in my garden, a 160ft wide true LED screen http://www.hitechreview.com/uploads/2009/09/Cowboys_stadium_television_screen.jpg

that IS this TV. cos I have it too. the netcast is now updated with some well cool stuff.

noticed the price ticket has a statement about Best Buy staff not working on commission, from a few weeks ago, the Currys/PC world ones say exactly the same, but refer to their staff as 'our experts'.

The measured input lag on these is not great - but anybody who has one says there is no noticeable input lag whatsoever ... personally I would rather go with the owners opinion on this one.

Yeah I have tried via their online deal that went sour for me - this tv is pretty much on a par with the Panasonic S20 and G20 and beats it on most things apart from black level ... seems that Panasonic in their race to get Pioneer like blacks have left a few too many flaws in their recent efforts.

Its GONE, sold out, telephoned them and none left!

The terminology is a bit confusing, making people think they have bought things they actually haven't.
There are the basic LCD and Plasma (which IMO still gives the best picture)

On top of that there is Backlit LED and Edge-lit LED. These are LCD TVs, which use LEDs as simply lights. The better LED TVs only light up the part of the picture which needs the brightness (allowing for deeper blacks) I have seen this refereed to as full LED (as opposed to cheaper versions that are no better than simply an array of lights always on)

True LED or OLED (which does cost thousands) ie 2K for 11" screen, is what alot of people think they are buying when they buy an LED TV (ie it is not the backlight, but actually makes up the picture). But I guess that is all part of the marketing.

I have seen Plasmas refereed to as out of date technology, but this is inaccurate. I would much rather have a plasma like this than most LCDs

I would go for this one personally (and that seems the general opinion on avforums) even when compared to the G20 (model up from S20)
