That's a lot of TV for your money but I'd prefer full HD for one that big

Lol.

I too would want 1080p for a screen that big. I don't understand why manufacturers still churn out non full HD screens.

How much juice does a 50" Plasma use?

cos not everyone has a blu ray/ps3 or uses it as a PC monitor.
not everyone is interested in those things.

for someone with a normal cable/sky/freeview/freesat, the higher resolution could look worse depending on how good the upscaling capability of the TV is.

for people that dont want or can't afford HD services and just want to watch a big screen, HD ready is fine.

snobs, the lot of ya.

I have a 37" LG 1080p, cos I use it for Blu-ray and as a monitor.
at me old man's house he has a samsung 42" HD ready plasma.
standard cable box, at 65 he doesnt care aabout HD content.
and as you can't buy anything but HD ready/full HD screens from the major retailers, HD ready is fine for his requirements.
