Currently in the market for a 50" 1080p set and came across this at Pixmania which is on a special offer for the next 2 n a half hours!

Listed at £699 + £20 delivery, but add something for a quid (like a cheap cable) to take it over £700, and then use the voucher to take it back down to £699 inc delivery.

4% Quidco too.

I'm very very tempted myself, and only have 150 mins to decide!

My thoughts exactly :P

Good price, but personally I would wait for this price from a different supplier as I prefer to have an acceptable level of customer service. I wouldn't touch Pixmania with a bargepole.

Snap.

As for service, never had any probs with pixmania myself, got my surround sound system from them.

Decisions, decisions....

Strange, PixMania site says Full HD but LG site says HD Ready???
#6
I just couldn't buy a tv made by Lg . Also i wouldn't spend a penny with Pixmania again .

Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Full HD.

I wouldn't worry about Pixmania as they're part of DSG. Check out the other offers from Dixons to compare this - Quidco + any vouchers.

Nice set - mustn't be tempted 'cos I got into trouble buying my last one;-)

The Pixmania deal on mine ended then came back again so don't panic if you're in two minds - £700 is still a fair chunk of cash and if you can't afford it then don't buy it.

Hd ready is just a term though, it wouldnt necesarily mean its not full HD.

Looks a cracking deal, shame i bought the panasonic 50" for £675 last week or this would probably have been a tempting prospect :)

never knew dsg owned pixmania.. tv looks decent
#12
i've gone for it, order placed :)

quidco should come in at about £20 so thats £679 for a 50" 1080p TV - bargain.

now i just need a stand/cabinet to put it on...
#13
oooh 15 mins to go...
#14
quidco has tracked at £17.61.

Totally irrelivant. Doesn't matter at all that Pixmania is owned by DSG - they are a French company and Briitsh SOGA does not apply to them.

My TV was bought from Pixmania and delivered by Currys:thumbsup:

You buy yours from MustHave100 don't you?

Sorry to sound dumb , but here goes ,
We watch mainly SD TV ,But will be buying a freesat box this week , for bbc hd ,
dont do gaming so no ps3 or xbox , we got a upscaling dvd player HDMI ,
Would we need full 1080 , or is 720 suitable for our needs ,
read so many contradictions that nothing is broadcast in full HD ,
would BBCHD look better on a 1020 Vs 720 ,
MANY THANKS

with your current requirements, you don't really need a 1080p set no. BBC HD and your upscaled DVDs will still look brilliant on a 720p set, i have Freesat and currently use it on a 720p plasma.

The only thing to think about though, is if you may well venture into the Blu-Ray/consoles market in the future, as if that is the case, then a 1080p set would be worth considering so that you are future-proofed.
