It doesn't have 1080p nor is there any mention of a HDMI socket or component in, but at that price, especially with a free HDD it's still HOT.

I imagine watching something on that size screen which isn't a HD signal is gonna look pretty bad.

Is it post free?

It is high spec then, but still no mention of Component In. I need that for my old fashioned Xbox 360.

btw Nice icon Chuf.

try quidco might get 7%
#14
nearly bought this tv about 3 moths ago
when it was full price
sure it was around £1100 though from tescos
it said on the sticker on the tv 1080p input
but also on same sticker 1366x768
(these are stickers along the tv telling you contrast ratio, how many hdmi ports etc..)
so i asked the sales assistant
and he said it will allow a 1080p source into it
but will scale down to 1080i or 720p
but was after a 1080p so didnt get it
but the picture looked very good indeed
hope this helps

try quidco might get 7%

could be wrong, but think quidco is only 3 % here,(tesco direct) Entertainment and Jersey is 7%

this tv looks a great bargain ,but i will resist have a new samsung plasma 42 inch coming from dixons on wed (£520 after quidco), this tv could suita lot of people but the inbuilt 160 gb drive would be wasted on me as have no freeview in my area for another 4 years.
#17
i ave this tv and i paid £1100 from same place 3 months ago, ps3 spot on mite get 2nd 1 at dat price cheers 4 da post......

I bought a samsung 42" a few months ago for £625. Not that i have any complaints wth it, but i would have waited a few months if i had known. The 160GB HDD is an extra added bonus. Voted HOT HOT HOT!
#19
bought the 42" inch version couple of months ago for £750. brill tv , great picture n hubby loves the built in HDD, he uses it all the time so he dosnt miss his fave prograsmmes while hes at work lol.
reduced the 42" version now to £649 too if anyone needing a smaller version
#20
Maybe I'm missing something, but a 50" TV with only 1366 x 768 pixel resolution .... what's the point?

My 4 year old Panasonic PWD6 42 inch plasma panel is only 852x480 but still looks amazing with the right input so that resolution will look just fine on a 50 inch. HD is fine if you are actually putting hd content onto it which I and most people just are not yet. I won't be until it comes down in price so no need to get a 1080i display until then.

Very good price, just wish I had some spare dosh!
#22
Now if it only had a FreeSat receiver as well I would buy it. Still a v. good telly!
#23
Hot Deal, Looked at this a while Back, but opted for a Smaller Panny TH42PX80B Only due to the fact of space and size. Cracking deal voted hot
#24
if only??................................................if only it had a slightly larger screen.

Some people are never happy

This does seem very cheap for a Plasma TV this size, made by LG, and with a large freeview recorder. There must be a downside to this TV, anyone got any ideas what that is ?
Cheers
#26
i seem to think that this tv will come down in price soon as freesat tv's will be the way forward,
however this is an incredible buy for a tv of this quality.
so its not 1080p but resolution isnt everything, its how the tv processes the picture!

great buy and im very tempted!

It's peoples uncontrollable urge to buy the very latest technology and then finding out that freeview still looks **** even tho its a true hd set, lol. It makes the none hd sets come down in price as they dont get bought.
#28
can anyone confirm this set has an analogue tuner onboard as well ?
Long shot but i dont suppose the HD recorder could work with the analogue tuner, im guessing not

Great price for a 50" plasma with those features, hot - ignore the resolution muppets.

I remmber when these things were about £3000. wasn't tha tlong ago.
#31
There's some possible clues as to why it's been reduced here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636565
(I know it's the 42" , but i'd be surprised if the problems discussed aren't common to both models)

Sheesh....about the hottest deal ever

Yip very hot deal ,almost tempted but have no freeview in my area for another 4 years so the built in hard drive would be wasted, also bear in mind Power Consumption Operational: 490 Watt may be important to know for some people.
#35
so the hard drive to this is built into the tv also...thats handy and would save on space for me.

please excuse my ignorance but why does the power consumption of 490 mean anything is that a good thing or bad, is it higher than most, not great with electronics but wanta new plasma, cheers
#37

possibly but more expensive and minus a 160 gb hard drive:thumbsup:

why write a post or a a thread in a language thats been made up for mobile phones? its been made up so you can get more characters in you text message! writing like that on here is completely pointless as you have an (almost) unlimited amount of characters you could write.

please keep the txt speak for the phones.

two 50" tv's! what size of house do you have anyway?

Out of stock now!

bummer just as i was going to go for one!
