I have a plasma and wouldn't buy one again. It's like a mirror during the day - even my wife wants to replace it, and she's very sensible!

Got the 50" of this. Good tv

It's a great price, but pixmania were selling it for £639 until they ran out of stock (http://www.pixmania.co.uk/plasma-tv/lg-60pb660v-60-plasma-tv-with-touch-screen-smart-tv-1080p-fullhd/22143779-a.html)

Also, does the seller actually have them in stock? The Amazon page doesn't say 'In stock' - just that it is usually dispatched after 4 or 5 days.

That was a good deal. I wonder if they will restock and sell at the same price again.

I doubt it, it would be too good to be true if they did! I've ordered the TV from Amazon for this price of £735, but I think even this is too good to be true as everywhere else seems to be selling this TV for £999 or more.

Let's see what happens

Same here, decent set but useless for online gaming with the poor input lag even on game mode, i presume this model has same problem.Fine though if you not a gamer. The 50 inch also has freesat HD as well as freeview HD so this 60 inch may be the same in that regard.

How does this compare to Panasonic plasmas? Much worse?

great picture - defo recommended

After a lot if research, decided to go for this. Quite a few websites have confirmed to have 3x HDMI slots, though amazon states 1.

The LG website states 1 on the side, 2 on the back. John lewis confirms 3x HDMI slots.

I have been after a 50 + inch tv for a while for the living room for a decent price. Ours is an old 42 inch which is about 6 years old and has some picture problems in the past.

+Heat

Edit: Adding some links

Most are going towards £1000+, argos is also selling it.

Great price for a plasma this size.

I've had a plasma for years, went to the in laws & their new led (lcd of course but I'll stick to the standard terminology despite it being wrong) TV looked great until anything started moving.

You just can't get accurate motion on lcd panels, & for me at least the panels seem massively over saturated on any setting (similar to samsung phone screens).

Besides that the newest plasma screens have much high brightness levels just for daytime usage, so you get the best picture whenever. As I can't afford those, I choose to have the better plasma screen for the evening, not the poorer lcd screen just because of its daytime viewing, let's face it, daytime viewing is for kids in the school holidays or students, I'm a stay at home dad & don't have time nor the inclination to watch TV during the day!

Great deal, hot hot hot!

Horrid Plasma. Most being "Sold Off" as now almost all Manufacurers have ceased production.

The reason for this is well published, has nothing to do with "quality" and its nice you don't let things like facts get in the way.
did you never wonder why up until recently it was always plasmas winning the "Best TV" awards?

Yes, production of plasma panels is ending despite them producing a better picture in favour of higher margin LCD panels as most buyers are too clueless to notice.

Its a huge shame that Panasonic have stopped production.
But my understanding is that other manufacturers are still continuing. Can someone please confirm this?

I really dont understand their decision made by Panny. They could've stopped all R+D, but still kept the production lines open. And given that Panny had produced the best (commercially available) TV ever produced, they could've charged a hefty premium and still made plenty of sales.

For those of us who want the absolute best image quality, now have to wait for OLED TVs. And at present, OLED just doesnt seem to be taking off. People are preferring to spend money on LCD 4K sets (even though 4K content is virtually non-existent).

I thought the low input lag was one of the key features of plasma as a technology???

Also give an awful level of interference to other Radio equipment.

You cant on cheap panels, its taken a long time, but LCD is now becoming a little better than Plasma quality, anyhoo, i wouldnt worry OLED is at 75" in Korea right now so 50+ inch OLED's will be hitting our shores very soon, and OLED destroys LCD, Plasma in every possible way, Power consumption, Heat, Weight, Blacks, Colours, Refresh Rates, Contrasts, Lifetime is about 30 years.

lol... Plasmas are still regarded as the best most cinematic picture quality. Maybe it's the position yours was in rather than the type of screen. I have no issues.
#24
I've got a 50" panasonic and I regret buying it. to watch TV in the daytime, which in summer is until 8-9pm you have to shut the curtains because of the glare and reflection of light.

Seems to be Out of Stock now - the elevenfirst option doesn't show.

Well some weeks she's in the kitchen or the bedroom but if neither of those took her fancy she will be busy nursing a black eye..:D

Are you asking her out?

omg i could go on but they will go over your head like the first :p

Anyway back on topic we have a blackout blind for the one window that causes a problem, a small trade off for the exquisite picture produced by the 50" version of this set obtained last year at a mere £419.
To my eyes, watching the best cinema has to offer on the cartoon like picture of every LCD/LED set i've ever seen is too painful.

I can confirm this does come with warranty as well (those who are interested), it seems it's out of stock now, those who missed it.

"Dear Sir,

All of our stock is brand new and as such includes full manufacturer's warranty, whatever that be. I believe that LG include a 12 month warranty from date of purchase. We do not offer any extended warranty plans with this product, you may be able to purchase this from LG directly or be able to purchase a 3rd party extended warranty.

Kind Regards

James"
