By all accounts, the Blu-Ray of Gladiator is a very, very poor transfer if that's one of the selling points for you:

Was gonna post this, the transfer is supposed to be a shambles, especially for such a high-profile release.

How does the 3 free Blu Rays thing work then, they're all out on consecutive Mondays for the next three weeks? Is it a send-away offer, rental or what?
The machine looks a bit naff though, better off with a slim ps3

Ok, i wouldn't pay much attention to that reviewer. He calls Dark City one of the worst blu ray transfers ever so he obviously has little idea what hes talking about. Either that or he's blind. The transfer for that film isn't perfect but is well above par. As for Gladiator i haven't seen it. Reviews suggest it is bad but not what that guy makes it out to be.

Its preorder only. I think the final title is released 21st Sept? Then you can collect it.

The review is spot on, the Gladiator transfer is attrocious and really at times resembles a pirate DVD. In the opening battle arrows intermittently appear and disappear and the scene where we see Commodus' return to Rome looks like it is shot on a handycam, bitty and waxy with blurred backgrounds. Gave up after that, will wait for a re-release off hte alleged superior master. The daft thing is the extended version, the new bits look pristine and are obviously off a better print or have not been subjected the the DVNR (digital video noise reduction) pass that seems to have ruined the rest of the film)

Cheapest i could find online is £140 so 3 blue ray fims for £10 is great...................plus its off the high street rather than online faffing around.

Calling gladiator atrocious or terrible is an exagaration of the transfer quality. The original reviewers on avs forums who took the snap shot pictures of the arrows fazed out in mid flight gave the video quality 15.5 out of 20 (about 7.8 out of 10).
Hardly a terrible score just not as good as you would have expected for the new sapphire range that gladiator is apart of. They stated that the quality is defiantely better than any of the dvd's & that all the extended scenes are perfect quality as they were mastered in 2006 where as the theactrical scenes were mastered back in 2000 to lesser quality (no blu ray or upscaling back then).
The audio quality is top notch & the extras are also great aswell.
To say that some of the footage looks like a pirate dvd is just rubbish since it's the same footage used in all the dvd releases & there only in standard resolution aswell.

I won't be buying it personally until it gets cheap to buy (£8 area) but hopefully paramount or universal will re-master the theactrical footage & offer an exchange program like they did with the fifth element.

But if it's a free blu ray that comes with a new player then you can't complain as it's a great film just not a blu ray to show off the format.

From what i can gather doing some research on the blockbuster LG bd360 it seems to be almost identical to the LG bd370 (the previous model).
I think because the BD360 is so new there isn't a lot of reviews yet for it, so here are some links to the bd370
