Asdas have reduced the LG BD360 Blu ray player down to £90! An absolute steal at this price. I am very happy with mine. Plays MKV files and the load time is instant, unlike my previous Sony S360 model.

Instore only I think

It's a brilliant machine. I have the 370 and am very happy.

That is a good price! Might check out my local asda tomorrow!

Got the BD360 from Blockbuster last year and it's a great player. Support for MKVs, Youtube, network connection, reads from USB so long as the drive is FAT32 formatted, it won't read NTFS.
Some people have reported MKVs will play distorted and pixellated but this seems to be fixed once you have the latest firmware for the player.

DOES this play all video formats ? avi , mpeg , ect

If it plays MKV it will probably play MPEG and AVI.

I got the bd370 very good player , super fast start up from loading the disc , they will play MKV but with the 4gb limitation of FAT32 its a bit of a waste of time.

I'm guessing they're gonna be dropping the prices of Blu-Ray players everywhere because of 3D blu-ray players coming out. Kind of like what's happening to normal non-3D tvs now
I have a PS3 so I'll just get 3D in a firmware update. Won't need to buy anything new

I'd love to hear where/how on these two?

Edit: It's a real shame this only supports up to 4GB due to being restricted to FAT32. This means most MKV films simply will not work as they exceed 4GB. The only things that might work are TV series.

I was just about to buy one until someone mentioned the 4GB limit. And when I say "just about to", I was literally a minute away from ASDA when I realised it was Sunday and they had closed an hour ago...

They're not lying, I picked up an LG BD370 from PCWorld for £59.97 at the weekend as well (along with a Panasonic Freeview PVR and DVD recorder for £100). I didn't think it was worth posting as it was clearly an end of line deal and those tend to get slated here, they had a Samsung one for £59.97 as well although it didn't seem quite as much a bargain.

Getting the Youtube feature working was a pain in the neck as the network set up is a bit wonky, it doesn't tell you anything more than it's connected and it seems picky about its DNS servers. After fiddling around with it for a while I was getting nowhere so tried manually updating it over USB and that worked and then Youtube was fine.

I was wary of paying so little for a machine however I'm having trouble with the media machine (Dell Hybrid) consistently playing blu-rays and I can't be bothered moving the PS3's about so I thought it was worth a shot. So far I'm actually quite impressed, the boot up time is reasonable and seems to play blu-rays fine so far - the remote control conveniently has TV power, source, volume and channel buttons. I've tried some mkv's (motorsports ones just under 720p) but while the main video played there were lots of squares all over static parts of the frame like a horrendous compression system. The files did work fine on a PC, I haven't tried any other files but it's not a deal breaker.

Don't forget the 3D tv

I'm the same, thats why i got the PS3 (and the F1 GP Game), got a 50inch TV now and just waiting for the 3D tv price drop.

I have a 250GB pocket usb drive but i stream the mkv files from my pc via a home network using the electric sockets. Got sick of wifi drop out and don't use it at all now, best thing I ever did.

Just bought the LG 50PK590 with an Onkyo amp and some Kef's.
Just need to get a blu ray player.
Anybody know if this would do the job well?

Hi,

Yeah i went into currys, saw the item on the shelf and couldnt believe it, there was a samsung 1620 for 79.95 there and also a samsung 1580 for 59.95. I went with the LG as i know they are good players. Probably end of the line stock but worth checking up at your local currys, pc worlds etc.
#26
cheers op. just picked one of these up from Forest Town (Mansfield) store - they had about 7 left.

I like the look of the 360 better than the 370 - local currys/pc world didn't have any in stock anyway.

Good price for a good player - even if it's been a bit cheaper in limited quantities else where.
#27
Sems to be loads of players in the currys clear out this time round, probalby selected stored but seems more than usual so worth a check..

Just went to my local (Reading) and it scanned through at £140... Cold
