Along with wif capabilities it can play mkv with ntfs format so no 4gb file restrictions and of course it is a bluray player good review of it here http://www.techradar.com/reviews/audio-visual/blu-ray-players/lg-bd390-blu-ray-player-631686/review?artc_pg=1

LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

The receiver is compliant with the higher bandwidth specification of 802.11n (as well as 802.11b/g). This means that, should you have a suitable wireless router, not only can you access such features as the aforementioned BD-Live, YouTube and firmware updates with the same speed as a wired LAN connection, but you can also stream HD video from a PC.

This deck also comes with full DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) certification, and it's got the badge to prove it. In essence, it can stream music, pictures and video stored on a computer or NAS drive straight to your screen. And thanks to the 'n' part of the 802.11n compatibility, it does so smoothly and extremely quickly (at the touch of a button)

can a ps3 play mkv files now?

Play had this (and the deal appeared on here) for £165ish a few months back but it went OOS VERY quickly.

I looked into it on AVForums and theres issues around wireless stability. UK stocks were fairly scarce at the time.

No it isn't. You don't have to convert or split mkv files over 4GB.

Voted hot.

talk sense man!

All I said was that the ps3 can play MKV files as you can easily convert them using MKV2VOB which you can. You jump in spouting useless crap like "You don't have to convert or split mkv files over 4GB" which is completely irrelevant to what I said. Who cares? Can you even grasp basic English? :whistling:

PS3 is a far better option. You stick with your wii.

What an idiot! :roll::-D:santa::santa:

Talk sense? I'm the one who can't grasp basic English?!?!? Got a spare glass house and some spare stones have you?

Several people have already explained why this player is better for the purposes of MKV playback. The fact that hard-drives connected to the PS3 have to be FAT32 formatted, the fact that you have to split flies over 4GB isn't irrelevant at all, it's central to the argument. In case it has escaped your attention new TVs, media streamers, and now Blu Ray players support MKV playback off NTFS hard-drives - one NTFS formatted drive can be used on several devices.

The PS3 is only better at playing games. There's a reason this player is in demand and why several retailers are out of stock.

I briefly wondered how anyone could manage almost 20,000 posts in just 3 years but in your case it's obvious, with the amount of b******t you post it takes no time at all.

Wow PS3, sure nobody considered that as an option, such an obscure choice... lucky we have 'experts' on here to remind us of such hidden gems.

Enough now everyone, this thread is from nearly a month ago.
