Just popped into my local Tesco.. Saw this, sounded cheap, googled it and bought one... I set the alarm off on the way out.. I was chatting to the security guard.. I think I have sold him one.. :-)

Nice player, pretty sure it can play downloaded 1080p MKV's on a NTFS formatted HDD via USB too.

Well worth £49.

Excellent player if you can find one.
OP, which store did you see it in? Most Tesco stores only stock the BD550 at around £80.

the exit alarm always goes off when you buy electrical stuff from tesco

its like they think they have a right to humiliate you just for buying their goods just so they can check youve paid. No you bloody do not.

Call Tesco on 0800 50 55 55, give them your postcode and they will check for local stock availability.

I have the BD550 which I am very happy with, so this should be equally as good. Hot deal from me.

Pretty sure that's illegal!

Pretty sure that's illegal!

Of course you can download MKV's.

However downloading copyright protected material in any format is...if you're caught.

Would a dedicated media player ( eg WDTV) be better?

Try Comet then, I had bought some electric cable from Wilkinsons and went into comet for a quick browse, when I left the alarm went off. Security and staff came out of nowhere like loads of Mr. Ben shopkeepers.

Everyone stares at you, there's no opology and they just integrate back into the store after, what do they think I had - a tv?

Morrisons alarms constantly sound. My mate who worked there said that he ignores shoplifters as he is not paid to stop them, isn't trained in combat and doesn't want a knife in him.

I have seen a female worker in Aldi jump out of from the check-out and wrestle a man to the ground, police were there in seconds.

Another time I was sitting outside Aldi eating chips and a man ran past me, seconds later a female worker asked me why I didn't stop him? She said that he had stole a bottle of vodka; like I wanted that in my face and the loss of my chips.

Downloading copyright protected material is not illegal!!!! - Distribution of copyrighted material is illegal. (Uploading)
If you download off torrent sites and are caught then they will always try and prosecute for distribution and never the downloading.

Out of curiosity, anyone know if you can play HD camcorder files on this? - I can't remember the exact format of these files, but recall it's long and not all players recognize it (maybe .AVCHD or something??)

Edit – apparently it does:)

Just popped into the massive Tesco Extra in Reading – but nothing there and not even the slightest hint of any offer. Closest I got was seeing they had the previous (550) model at £99 :(
