Hackable for DVD, not (that I can find) for Blu ray...

I've had a few LG dvd players and they all went back as they couldn't play NTSC properly!

Most of the time there's a judder or a really high number of drop frames. Anyone have this and can offer any insights into to the way it plays ??

was thinking of changing from sony s760 but this doesnt have HD audio onboard & BR picture is best on sony. why cant sony support MKV? think they should add on 3d models as that'll be my next upgrade

This does support HD audio on blurays it just can't play DTS-HD from within files like .mkv files. It will play DTS-HD, Dolby Digital Plus or TrueHD off blurays perfectly.

For more info see the manual here: http://www.lg.com/uk/tv-audio-video/video/LG-blu-ray-player-BD560.jsp

I had a Samsung dvd player that did this. If I changed the dvd player output from PAL to NTSC the problem would disappear as the lcd tv would switch from 50hz to 60hz and there would be no need to drop frames. Only problem was having to remember to switch it back to watch PAL dvds :p

Valid point, but the last 2 LG machines I've had didn't have a pal/ntsc switch it was supposed to be an automatic process but just didn't work. . .
