#14
I think the tesco phones are sim locked but they haven't got ugly branding software on there could be wrong.

good price but terrible phone, i'm getting rid of mine next week once i buy a new one in the sales, i hate it, it constantly crashes, the predictive text doesn't work half the time, it doesn't like the cold weather, the battery life is awfull, in saying that tho my friend has it also and has never had a spot of bother, must just be lucl of the draw i guess

Times 4 in Tesco Deals:thumbsup:
#18
It's a good price and deal, but a terrible, terrible phone.
#19
Tesco phones are locked but after 3 months and a minimum top up of £30 they will unlock them for free.
#20
It'll be locked and it is 1000 points! I'm on Tesco Mobile and had to get a new phone recently, so I got the Nokia 6303 Classic from Tesco Direct and the box says, tweely enough, "I'm locked to the Tesco Mobile network". Plus my Clubcard balance is exponentially healthier :santa:

Incidentally, I've previously used my SIM with a couple of O2 mobiles without any problems, though I don't know if it'll work the other way round (ie an O2 SIM in a Tesco Mobile, er... mobile).

A tesco sim will work in an o2 phone but not vice versa

This phone can be software unlocked AFIAK.

I was reading up on this a few months back and read some things that put me off. Slow software, randomly unlocks and phones people when you're carrying it in a bag/pocket. Crashes frequently. I haven't used it personally so don't count on me for first hand feedback :)

It's not software unlocked. It just uses some software to find the unlock code for the handset, therefore not voiding the warranty

We got one of these for one of our kid instore, in September for their birthday, on a PAYG. Fortunately no problems so far, as listed by others. We also got the Tesco sim card online, and got cashback from Quidco (not sure if offer still on). Tesco PAYG tarrif also handy when you top up and get "some free credit, eg: top up with £15 and get £15 credit free", but the free credit not carried over to next month.

Strongly suggest you get a cover for the phone to protect it from knocks and scratches when in pockets or bags. The phone was locked to Tesco, However my 02 monthly simm worked fine in it.

I think we paid about £89 instead of £109 (i.e. spend £30 instore get £20 off phone price, when offer was available).

Hope this info helps someone.

You can unlock it with LG-Utils KS360 KP500 FR-EN Version 0.4.0

The firmware can also be updated to correct some of the issues already mentioned here

I have this phone (from the £40 e2save deal) and am very happy with it.
There are a few problems, but it is a decent touchscreen phone, at a great price.

Mine never crashed and it does not unlock easily

Tesco do brand their phones - not too obtrusively tho (Sony-Ericsson at least). I have a K610i and am very pleased with both the phone and Tesco. Now if only they bundled free internet.

#35
Good deal, shame it's a crap phone :x

I have this phone and had no problems with it at all. Will use my 1118 points in tesco deals when I get the vouchers through in February. For example I got a year's subscription to National geographic for 800 points.

Personally I find Tesco PAYG Lite tariff better value as all calls are only 8ppm and texts are 4p each. On the above Tariff your £30 free credit is only valid for a month. I just went into my local Tesco store and used their phone to call customer service to change my tariff. All went through in about 24 hours. Appears to match the charges on Asda's PAYG tariff.

Mine crashed constantly, locked when it shouldn't, unlocked when it shouldn't, switched off when it shouldn't, switched on for no reason, shut itself down while sending texts and used to ring for no reason.

Apart from that it was OK :-D
#38
Mine unlocks really easily, then phones people, sends multiple text messages of the same thing (luckily im on a contract), crashes alot, freezes a lot, randomly turns itself off and I've even had the blue screen of death before

Aww I love my pink one, sad to see it gettling slated. Have had mine well over a year now and I love it - the only issue I have ever had with it is that it did used to unlock and call people on it's own when in my bag, but bought a case for it on ebay for a few quids and it's not been an issue since :)

asda phones are unlocked, people i know have their cheap nokias, which are unlocked,. Vergin also have some of their phones unlocked, and most contract phones from the carphone warehouse are unlocked
