My old man bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, they're £50 at ASDA.

Awesome DVD player, knocks the socks off my Toshiba XDE500 so I decided to bag myself one today.

Plays DivX etc from USB.

A friend of mine has one of these. Great for the money:thumbsup:

You mention it knocks socks of the Toshiba XDE500, would you say the upscaling then was better than the XDE technology that Toshiba are using? Or referring to the fact it has more bells and whistles?

does this play AVI files?

Pretty much in every respect, the colours were a little more vibrant on CG stuff on the Toshiba but this seems much sharper.

Yes, it does.

An AVI file could be anything... AVI is just a file container.

Good question, a lot of divx players I have been looking at can only play from a usb flash drive and not a external HD, would be great if someone can clarify this.

It looks like it can! Just needs formatting to FAT. Good info here:-

Got one today and hooked up to my LG PQ6000, nice upscaled picture, also got it for the divx usb for when it gets relegated to the bedroom but.. like other users on Avforums it just doesn't want to play any of my files.
They all work into the PQ6000 USB so no major problem. Tried reducing the files / folder number to below 600 and still the same, I can see the file but I get a dotted line when I try and play it and then it skips to the next file.

Never mind, still a nice player for the money.

thanks OP and voted hot

Pressing "Title" on the remote moves you from "music" to "photos" then "movies".
