Picked one of these up instore at Tesco Brooklands a couple of weeks ago, quite surprised to see it hasn't been posted yet. Does Xvid/Divx v6, usb input (mounts my 320gb WD passport no problem), composite / hdmi output upscaling up to 1080p. Plays music, rips cd's onto mp3 directly onto the usb media too & can turn your tv into a biiig HD photo frame if you're into that kind of thing.

Decent player, next cheapest I can find it is on Amazon for another £15 or so more.

Pls try to add the price & retailers name in the title, thanks :)

Also, tags should be separated by commas.

cheers edi. Forgot to mention, I can plug blackberry or camera into it to view pics / play music fine, plays pretty much everything I throw at it *apart from* H264 and 3GP

Cold? really?

Might be because a lot of people would rather pay a bit more and have a player that plays .mkv files too - just a guess though... well maybe a bit more than a bit at £30 more, but plays most file types ... and you can add an HDD if you like too, just a pity it doesn't stream content really.

Personally I just use my PS3 as a media player and streams anything I like to play it anywhere in the house via the wireless network... not bad considering when I bought it 18+ months ago it was just for playing games :)

Ok, but isn't that missing the point of hukd a bit? It's a good deal on this particular product, and you can pick it up instore.

Heres info on hacking it.

I have just used the CD hack as advised on this site for the LG dvx350. works fine.

The stock Tesco are selling are Region Free but not sold as such. Check the 'Setup' on your machine before burning a hack cd you might not need. Sounds obvious but I didnt, assumed I needed a hack and had a frustrating time that I could have avoided! Apologies if this no-hack message offends the rules.

Bought my DVX492H from Tesco - unfortunately it wasn't region-free out of the box like the previous correspondent found. However, as the other correspondent reported, the CD hack for a different model of DVD player works perfectly. I've mirrored it here:

http://www.box.net/shared/v07pyb4e9x

It's a tiny file; the hack is an 11 byte ASCII file two directory levels deep on a CD-ROM. Instructions are in a text file in the archive.

I didn't vote either way, was just saying why it might be cold... people don't seem to vote on the DEAL sometimes but on the product itself instead.. which isn't fair I agree, if people don't like the product then they should just move on or offer an alternative that does the same or better.

Anyway, good product... just wouldn't use it myself as I prefer streaming stuff, plus I need a player that plays .mkv files too.. good luck with it though

When I make the cd and insert it in the DVD it says "Check disk" and nothing more happens - can you help with another way to hack the LG DVX 492H?

Hello all,

I found the answer to my question elsewhere.

Its very important that the ISO-file is burned slowly - then it works.

Use InfraRecorder and burn the file at the lowest possible speed.

Best regards,
