These are good machines paid £350 6 months ago and I have no complaints. Couldn't quite stretch to a Miele at the time but this is the next best thing.
#2
Looking for my first washer i was looking at 1400. Is 1200 enough?
#3
Spin speed is irrelevant nowadays when considering drying performance, because it has been superseded by the spin efficiency rating, which on this machine is B. Besides which, spin speed isn't the whole story; drum diameter plays a part as well, for instance.

We can't answer your question - it depends on whether you are happy that clothes will take slightly longer to dry than if the rating had been A.

Bear in mind that faster spin speeds put more strain on the drum bearings when the load isn't perfectly balanced (which it rarely is), so a cheap machine with a high spin speed may be a bad idea.

Your first washer? Are you on your own / a couple? Dont need a special fancy washer if thats the case (2/3 loads a week) just get a cheapy one
#5
These are really great washing machines, no belt to slip or break.

Well I don't think people should confuse usage/ quality/ value for money.

I live with my partner and we do 2 may 3 loads a week, yet I bought a £800 Miele Washing machine.... BECAUSE I want a good quality, quiet machine that hopefully will never break down and last forever. I never ever ever want to come downstaires to a flooded kitchen or find out the machine has just eaten my clothes.

The LG is a good machine, Direct drive should make it quiet, and 1200spin is enough for everyday usage. the only time you need 1400 is for towls or heavy cotten items that hold alot of water.

True. but how often have you had a washing machine belt slip or break. :)

Indeed it will, but that's mostly because it will have a brushless motor. You can also get washing machines with belts that have brushless motors, and they are quiet too.

Not sure about that. An A-rated spin machine (note the spin speed being superceded by a proper measurement) will result in all your clothes coming out dryer.

I think this is the same one B&Q were doing. Can pick up there for about £200 at the moment I think (was in my local one in Leeds)
#10
great washing machines, some of the better ones you can get. comparable to bosch
#11
Try this link it might help you out on what spin to choose

You might have to type this website in sorry

On my second LG, got the 9kg one now in Black, it looks the biz!!

But remember they stick out much further than normal washers due to DD motor so consider this before buying then finding out the cupboard next to it doesnt open properly!
#13
Did not know that LG made these

Can't see it on their website.
Thanks.

Can you confirm that?

If you can I will drive to Leeds to buy one.

I somehow doubt that you can buy an LG Direct Drive Washing Machine for £200.

I've got a DD LG machine as have several members of my family. Far far less noise than belted machines, and thus far none of us have had any issues (granted ours is only 3 yrs old, but I know people who have 5/6 yrd old models).

I did seriously condsider a Bosch and a Miele and I'm glad I didn't pluck for the Bosch given the problems my friends had with his model (~3.5yrs old).

Personally i always pay the few quid extra and geta 1400 spin machine and i recomend others do as well, the clothes come out so much dryer and if you use a tumble dryer this saves about 20 minutes in the dryer which equals a lot of money saved with the price of electricity these days.

But of cousre each to their own.

had mine for five years still working fine. and quiet too.

I bought one of these washing machines about 3 months ago, but I returned it for being too sarcastic - ie it really took the p1ss out of my underpants! ...:w00t:

Marks out of ten for this washing machine? .......Well, I'd say it removed about 8 skidmarks out of ten - not bad considering how industrial mine are. ...:w00t:

As I said earlier, it's not the belt that makes the noise but a brushed motor.
#21
Anybody mentioned that this washing machine comes with a 2 year warranty.
#22
Bought this machine for £350 a few weeks ago. Am really pleased with all aspects of it so far. Quiet, efficient, good programming choices and two year guarantee. Never needed to use full spin yet. Time will tell as far as reliability goes, but can recommend giving it a go if you need a new machine.
#23
only problem we find is that it doesnt like to spin when a few heavy objects are in it ie towels and jeans

We've got the black one too, looks really nice and washes well aswell. On ours you can't select to just do a spin cycle which is slightly annoying. We also found that it stops if you have an uneven load, but that only happened when we had a sleeping bag and a few other things in. It was fine once we took the extra bits out and just left the sleeping bag by itself.

Really can't fault it though, it's better than the Zanussi we had previously (which was also very good)
#25
certainly looks like it from the picture. B&Q in Leeds were doing loads of white goods, which they are now selling off for about £200 for this one (7kg, A rated etc all as per the one i got)

I'd call to check first as it depends on what they have in. Was in at the weekend and they had a whirlpool one in for £190 (A rated, 6kg), then you take the 10% off if you got the card.

soooooo many thanks for this. My washer broke last weekend. Been looking at Bosch, but this will do fine and £50 cheaper thanks to the code.

Makes it all worth while spending time putting the deal on here with thanks like that. My pleasure, now you can treat yourself with the savings :gift::friends:

Excuse If I am being thick - but I just cannot get to this deal for it to show the price as £288. When I click on the GO TO DEAL button it takes me to the Comet website but shows the price of the washing machine at the normal store price of £329.99.

I have done a fake walk through buying this online and I cannot see where to input a code to buy this for £288 on the Comet site.

Someone help me please - need to get a washer for mother-in-law.

as far as i can remember, add it to your basket, and then on the next page, right at the top there is a place to put the code. There is something already in there, you have to replace it with the 15% code, and the price comes down to £280 delivered. Dont forget to add the collection of the old appliance ( costs about £9) its worth it.

all the best

and thanks again to all

Yes - I was being THICK! I have seen it now - add the code in on the first page after you select the "BUY ONLINE" option.

Interesting to note though - the COMET salesman in the store said he would match any online price I came up with - I just had to bring a print to prove. I kind of like the idea of giving him the business in the store - he gets his target - the store stays open. If we all end up buying online there will be no stores, or a reduced amount, and the people in these stores will get reduced wages.

The price for this washing machine now looks great - but has it too many options for an 80 year old mother-in-law. Downloaded the instructions from Diplodocs.com and it actually looks very easy. Sad that their default wash is 60 deg C - not very environmentally good.

I have further benchmarking to do!

Well the deal is almost a month old, so hardly surprising.
