Mental device this! a bendy phone that was £700 on release in October 2013. I am sure lots of you will have plenty to say about the 720p screen but this is a bargain for £260!

Setting a new milestone in the evolution of the smartphone, LG Electronics take the wraps off the LG G Flex, a smartphone curved to follow the contour of the face, the first device to offer such a design in the smartphone market.

The vertically curved design of the LG G Flex reduces the distance between one's mouth to the microphone when the device is held against the ear. The LG G Flex employs a curvature arc that is optimized for the average face, to deliver improved voice and sound quality. The curved design also offers a more reassuring grip and fits more comfortably in one's back pocket. What's more, in landscape mode, the display offers an immersive, cinematic experience, with the result being the most comfortable viewing angle for watching videos or playing games.

LG G Flex also features the Rear Key first introduced in the LG G2. Devoid of any buttons on the sides, there is less chance of accidentally powering off the phone and the convenience of using one's index finger to adjust the volume when conversing is maintained.

The 6-inch ultra-thin, ultra-light flexible Plastic OLED (POLED) display and curved OLED panel are built on plastic substrates instead of glass, giving LG G Flex its unique shape and durability. The POLED display is brighter and more precise thanks to the application of Real RGB, which contains all three sub-pixels — red, green and blue — in one pixel.

Despite its thin form, the LG G Flex curved battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh, enough power for more than a full day of use.

Additionally, the LG G Flex boasts a "self-healing" coating on the back cover, which gives this innovative flexible cell phone the ability to recover from scratches and nicks.

What's the purpose of a curved screen?

There must be a good reason for it or apple wouldn't have bothered making the iPhone 6 bendy.

Not much choice for that size and price and might appeal to some but suspect most will prefer S5 M8 for same money or Ultra Z for £30 less.

i think its still too much i would go for the lg g3 for a extra 40 and as the new gflex 2 is coming out now which corrects a lot of issues that this phone has. this should be much lower in price

The price should drop further soon as LG has just announced the Flex 2. It has a smaller screen (5.5" against the Flex 6") making it smaller to hold. It also has the new Snapdragon 810 chipset giving it 1080p resolution (The flex is only 720p resolution), and comes with Lollipop OS.

Great price/phone

Will be £200 by APril!

Apparently the P-OLED screen has some pretty bad issues with image retention and blurriness. It's also quite low resolution for its size. Battery is supposedly very good and I know one person in particular who really loved his. He doesn't have it any more though!

Doubt this will ever get any updates from LG as so few people bought it I can't imagine them investing the time into putting Lollipop on it.

The tech here is too bleeding-edge for me. I'd recommend the Z Ultra if you want a giant phone and don't mind the crappy loudspeaker and camera.

To fit the contours of ones buttocks with the additional advantage of the ear to jaw angle...

Hadn't seen this phone before so thanks for that, as for the chipset being related to 1080p well there's been inferior chipsets that support 1080p so I'd say that's not a feature to mention really as a direct result of the chipset chosen.

Just get an iPhone you dingus until a operating system comes out thats conducive to phone use. Phone tech should be going towards not constantly looking down at your phone.

There's something quaint about the idea that a phone nowadays would be designed to be held up to your face. I can't see that ever catching on...

HOT for the price and the fantastic memories this thread brings back!

Loved my nokia curved 7110 & 8110's, sitting down, in the tightest pair of Levi 501's Jeans, forgetting that you had you mobile in your back pocket and unlike today's smartphones, it still worked!

Priceless!

Think LG have some competition coming for their new 2015 Flex 2 SnapDragon 810 powered handset this year..

It says £284.99 now. I love the look and feel of this phone but I think I'm waiting for the Nexus 6 now. Plus I try to keep under a budget of £200-250 for new phones these days if I can. I honestly can't understand why people will pay £600+ for an iPhone.

It was £259.99 as the Expansys Deal of the Day yesterday (Tuesday). Now back to original selling price.

Although I appreciate this is a basic attempt at satire, its not correct. The G Flex was released quite some time before the iPhone 6. In order for this joke to work, there needs to be an element of accuracy. Please feel free to keep trying and I will provide further feedback.

In fact the 5 was out before the 6 and the G flex, that also bends...

TOOOOOT TOOOOT!! Fanboi alert!!!!

poor camera result but still good price for such technology :)
#34
Poor camera, low res display (especially on a 6"). The negatives outweigh the small benefits of the curved screen.
#35
And what happens if you just happen to sit on it somehow when its the wrong way up

wipeout , i imagine

I thought this phone looked really good until I read this review: http://www.trustedreviews.com/lg-g-flex-review

Perhaps something to consider if you've ordered one or were considering it.

FYI. At the CES 2015 this week, an LG G Flex2 was announced. CLICK HERE

How do iPhone bending jokes end up in every topic? Can only assume sour grapes on someone's part. It's really not that funny though. I say this as a G3 owner. You're. Not going to stop people buying iPhones by making snarky comments about it, just as you're not going to stop people buying Macs by telling them how much more upgradable PCs are. They're a completely different device. I don't even see iPhones as being in the same category as Android phones. Different market entirely.

The G Flex2 is out soon, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet...
