ah if only it were easter weekend again.. tescos deal £109 for this was surely the bargain of the year

Agree,Tesco deal was amazing.Still it's my fav android tab, much better than my Nexus 2nd gen, alway reach for this first.Kitkat now as well!

I didn't really like the LG oem skin so I rooted it and installed Cyanogenmod to give it a more stock android feel

Bought one last time, for my Wife to carry around and bring to work, as the iPad is a bit too big to fit into her bag.

And guess what?

She refuses to use this as she finds it a bit to complicated and fiddly compared to the iPad. Although, it may be also due to the fact that the screen is a bit smaller too.

Hi, really cautious buyer. Had my eye on Tab Pro (ignoring the Tab S as its just way more than I want to pay), which one would you guys/gals recommend? Not in a rush so could hold out for the g-pad to go down in price but don't see it happening personally. p.s. missed the Easter deal, no time machine, got to build a bridge!

I recommend the Tab Pro 8.4. I have it and I prefer it over the G pad and the iPad mini. It's got a beautiful screen, great for watching movies. Plus, you can add a micro SD card and store movies, tv shows, images music etc. It's got great high end specs and a poweful processor so all apps and games run perfect. The interface however can be a little laggy sometimes, that's due to Samsung's heavy Touchwiz skin, it's nothing too major and can be avoided by installing a launcher (I recommend Nova) or rooting and installing a rom, but overall I think this tablet is great and far superior to the g pad.

Thanks Mr Silent Bird, really appreciate your help for a lurker! One more thing, do you feel the tab s is worth me pushing the boat out? - I have a feeling that its disadvantage is that there are no custom ROMs.
#8
No worries :) and it's all down to personal preference, the Tab S has the same camera, same display (but with AMOLED technology), it has an extra gig of ram so it will be faster. But it's really up to you, it depends on what you'll be using it for and whether you want to dish out an extra £70/80. You needn't worry about the ROMs, give it a month or two and there'll be a ranges of ROMs optimised for the tablet.

With current John Lewis price of £249 on Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, I would recommend you go for Tab Pro.

It is higher spec, prettier, lighter, and more premium look.

I am holding out for Tab S 8.4. I am curious to see how good Super AMOLED display is compare to normal IPS.

Thanks both, that really helps make my mind up. I had a play with the Tab s today and was very impressed with the screen but it's overkill for my needs and bleeding edge isn't really my style.

Isn't there a £6 delivery fee, in which case cheaper from co op electrical.

Price doesn't include delivery, would rather buy from co-op electrical for £189.99

Very true, the speakers on the Tab Pro are not the best and they are placed inappropriately. When holding the tablet in landscape, your hand will cover the speaker and cause the sound to muffle. This isn't a problem if you intend you use headphones of course
#16
TAB S has speakers on both sides.

I normally use my tablet with my bluetooth headphone. So not a problem for me

Picked up the new tab s 8.4 from PC world today for £295 using the O2 priority app. Amazing screen on this thing. I previously has the pro 8.4 model which is a very good tablet, but I prefer the amoled screen, fingerprint scanner and other extras you get with this tab.

It is nice to hear positive comment for the AMOLED screen on Tab S.

That is what I have been waiting for.

Does anyone know how to get kitkat on this? We have gone to settings and clicked on updates but it doesn't install kitkat. Anyone got any ideas? Much appreciate any help.
#21
The plugs on these are millimetres larger than standard so you might have to force them into plug sockets and no matter the power options you setup this thing does not leave the Wi-Fi active when you turn the screen off, cuts out 5-15 min after.

Aside from these they are great devices.

it's running Kitkat on mine fine, told me there was a software update immediately, did so again after I reset it.I would email LG.I hadn't got 4.3 update for my xperia and emailed Sony. They sent the usual crap,it's being rolled out area by area, can't give definite answer when you will get etc, check regularly in setting. However I immediately checked for the update AGAIN.Amazingly it was waiting for me,coincidence?Maybe.

I'm really not sure if this is worth getting, or the Sammy tablet as above if they're similar sizes. I recently bought the Xperia Z but at 10.1" it's too big, so I'll sell that and then think about which smaller high spec Android tablet to get. I bought an iPad Mini With Retina Display from here a while back but miss using Android, though I like the quality. What to do?! LOL!

The seller only got one.

The seller did try to ask me for more money which I rejected.
