Update: it's back in stock if you're wanting to buy directly with Amazon, however the price is now EUR 403.17, which is just a shade over £315 - about £16 more than it was previously when I posted the deal, but still a very good deal.

Difference between 16GB and 32GB version: http://www.mobilegeeks.com/lg-g3-2gb-vs-3gb-ram-performance-showdown-video/ - thanks to krisztiankorom for the link.

Price dropped to EUR 401.02 / £291.34 - Black

It'll be about 3% more than the actual sterling exchange rate due to charges (both using Amazon's currency converter or your bank's fees, although some banks like Nationwide and Natwest have no fees so definitely look it up before choosing).

Still, A LOT cheaper than what's being sold here in the UK, plus its the 32GB storage 3GB RAM version which isn't available in the UK.
And yes, it does work perfectly in the UK - it's only the Asian models which run on different frequencies and so will have trouble with most UK networks.

Another benefit to note is that if you're willing to deliver it to a German address and then ship it to the UK (free German delivery then around £10 to ship to UK), then you'll be eligible to get a free LG headset worth £100. Sell that and you can drop the cost of the phone even more!

BEWARE - I bought one of these on ebay and it turned out that 4G only worked in the UK if you entered a test code (something like *#855....) and you would have to do this every time the phone was rebooted. Turned out that the phone software (NOT the Android version!) was for south east asia and LG wouldn't cover the phone under warranty for use in Europe ( I spoke directly to LG Tech Support in the UK who confirmed this to me).

Needless to say I returned it to the seller for a full refund from Paypal (plus return postage) and bought a European version ( 16GB with 2GB ram).

Check exactly what you're getting from the seller before you pay!! The one I bought on ebay had no mention of the 4G issue and it was only when I emailed the seller (fortunately a business seller) that he came up with the service code solution - clearly he had mis-sold the phone by holding back on this 'significant feature'. Remember, if you buy one like this it will probably affect the resale value when you sell it to get your next phone.

Thanks for the heads up; it's one of the best things about this website. But this is direct from Amazon, not a third party, and is a European model. It also says "can be used in the UK" in Amazon's description, so no worries! :)

According to comments I've read, it's obviously better and can only help in terms of performance, but you won't notice a HUGE difference.

email from LG UK regarding shopping for LG G3 @ amazon.de

"Thank you for your query regarding the D855.

Firstly, thank you for choosing LG for your mobile needs. Unfortunately if you decide to buy a 32GB from Germany then the warranty would only be covered in that country where the phone was purchased/imported from. This is why we recommend buying a handset that is from the UK for warranty purposes.

Hope this helps and Happy New Year."

Many manufacturers still are seeing the Brits as mugs to rip-off. What do they call the UK - the golden island? - because they charge us more than in other countries?

The EU warranty laws are EU-wide - LG, re the above email, should be reported to the EU for that. It would be good if the EU began fining companies for such things. A few million quid fine would be a start IMPO.

Maybe try this for germany address forwarding service http://www.addressgermany.com/

Good to choose your own option to pay (rather than Amazon Converter), and use a halifax clarity credit card (no fx exchange fees)

Hmm, very interesting! Would you have to do the same with the headset though, have it delivered to a German address first...?

Thanks for the reply.

The AddressGermany service that TheShadowWalker posted looks very good; just 10€ for lifetime membership, especially as it'll ensure you receive the free LG headset.

I've only just found it from googling. Please conduct proper research of any competitors (if so who's better service) and check the reviews :D

Ha! I was looking around at reviews and other companies as you posted. I think I'll use mailboxde.com instead; I've read a lot of positive reviews about them from guys on XDA, Reddit, etc. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Sorted. Ordered by my cousin in Germany ;)

Ordered mine on 29th, arriving tomorrow (I hope!)

Just ordered using mailboxde.com - really easy process! :)

The free LG headset promotion ends tomorrow, so this is very good timing.

I'm just disappointed with battery life, also you might have WiFi and mobile data issues after a few weeks usage.

It's 383 Euros now, so less than £300. Bargain.

I'd be all over this if I hadn't bought the 64GB OnePlus One about 3 hours ago.

How much was it?
Fancy this deal with the headset but seems a bit of a leap of faith to get it delivered to a random company first?

it says 318 pounds when I try?

Except this model is not sold in the uk so has to be returned to LG Germany if any problems arise.

Oh and I am highly delighted with mine and it hasn't had to go back to Germany so far......

It is a little bit of a leap of faith, yes, but I feel fairly comfortable given all of the reviews I've read. And not just random reviews, but from numerous users on forums like XDA, Reddit and OnePlusOne.

The service is really quite cheap. For the size of this parcel, you're looking at a fee of EUR 2.80 - and then your postage too of course. There are a number of different services you can use, however I'll likely go with UPS, which is EUR 11.90. I would have been charged that had I had it delivered straight to my home address anyhow; but with a little leap of faith and spending an extra couple of quid, I shall hopefully receive the LG headset and sell it on.

I've signed up for a free trial of Prime with Amazon.de as well, just to speed things along a little. Total price with Amazon was EUR 383.

I haven't had any issues, also battery life is amazing as long as it isn't constantly used. In standby its incredibly frugal but if you're a heavy user buy a extra battery or two.

Yeah, that's my understanding of it. You just have to fill in the claim form; IMEI number, purchase information, etc. and then after 'successful registration' it'll be posted in six to seven weeks. It's worth a go...
