LG G5 Cam Plus module RRP £69 - now £28.98 at Amazon (Prime)!

£28.98 @ Amazon
I'm not a huge fan of this module to be honest, and at the £69 RRP it's massively overpriced; but if you fancied it at all, at £28.98 it's far more palatable!

£30 for a phone grip?

It's worth whatever the buyer values it at... £few hundred for a DSLR grip is just as ridiculous or useful, depending on what you want it for / do with it.

Oh, and a 1200mAh extra battery in the grip.

from reading the specs a while back I believe the extra battery capacity is only for the camera use ..... I don't think it can be used to charge up the internal battery

I'd avoid this. I tried it for my G5 and it just feels half baked. The internal battery gives 2 minutes charge when you press any button, but rhe phone's charging time is much slower when this is in use. Plus the buttons are so sensitive my camera app kept starting in my pocket! I'm not voting though as it is a good deal but for a rather poor item.
G5 owners are much better off getting one of those battery charging cradles which I really recommend.

This not worth getting then?

This makes me angry. The G5 had such potential and then they go and release this garbage - a handle with a shutter button, Surely they could have gone as far as a xenon flash? Such a waste.

Xenon flash on the complete opposite end of the phone might have been awkward and probably would have caused issues - not least that your hand would often get in the way of the flash. I reckon xenon was proposed initially but that they knocked it on the head at some point in the early development stages.

Personally I never use xenon even on my proper camera. If the lighting isn't right then I just don't take the picture - not least because I feel self-conscious firing intense light into people's faces. Never used it on the Lumia 1020 for example. For portraits I tend to just knock the shutter speed down and hold the camera more steadily - it tends to create nicer tones than a xenon flash anyway. I don't really bother taking photos of scenes in low light with a lot of movement, except maybe the odd video.

This is a decent price for the grip. It's cheaper in Cex by 98p though, and a lot of stores seem to have them. Better warranty too, and most I've seen look like they are brand new units that have been traded in as part of a contract bundle.
