This thread makes me chuckle - discussing over 2p =p
#7
Is IDE, not SATA.
#8
it all adds up 2p saving on just say 1 itam a week so for a year just over £1 and given say a lifetime of 80 years thats £83.20p or... 4 and 1/2 free dvd-rw drives
#9
good deal :)

I don't care about 2 or 50p, what I care is good packaging: Scan packages all the items securely, whereas Play packaging is a bad joke, last time I bought a drive from them it came damaged inside a plain envelope. I think I know from where I will be ordering my next drive...

DVD/CD Manufacturers seem to be dropping the 52x CD burning speed I've noticed lately.

The new Liteon drive does dvd+r/-r 24x speed and has the new LabelTag so you can put text on the writeable side of a disk and lightscribe on the top.

Problem is that it's not out until May.

I bought a LG SATA DVD writer a few weeks ago from play.com and the packaging was fine, it was in a bubble envolope and then inside a cardboard box.

I always used to buy pioneer drives but the life span has been poor so i thought i'd give the LG a try, very happy so far with burn quality.

Best place to get lightscribe media anyone?
#17
How long does this take to get to 22x?

My Samsung rated at 20X never does half that.

Just to try and help anyone out who buys this

Don't try and hook this up by ide-usb adapter with laptops as Lightscribe won't work!

Or at least it didn't a couple of weeks ago when I check

you have to buy a proper usb dvd drive with lightscribe :(

(it works as a normal drive, just not lightscribe)
#20
Did you download the lightscribe software?

Lite-On iHAS624. Saw it on cdrinfo.com a few weeks ago.

From £10.70 for a pack of 50 at SVP:

http://svp.co.uk/category/lightscribe_dvdr

I've used the Datasafe ones and they work very well, especially if I burn the lable twice to get better contrast.
