Good for the money but the Orange San Francisco is a much better phone for not much more money.

Nice phone but mine has got slow after a few months. I'm not sure why.

Fantastic deal! I bought one a couple of months back for £99.99 + £10 top-up, and I thought that was good. A really nice phone with a good-sized, responsive screen.

Mine sometimes says the battery is low when it isn't (turning it off and on again shows that the battery still has half its charge), and don't expect it to play 3D racing games or whatever, but overall great value for money.

does it have 2.2 ?

does it have 2.2 ?

Comes with 1.6 I think. Have heard it can be upgraded to 2.1 though

i bought one of these in July the battery lasted only 22 hours on standby, the strange thing is the more i use it and charge it the longer the battery is lasting between charges it now lasts about 4 days and thats when using it a lot, the problem im having at the moment is it wont download games or apps anymore even though i have loads of space on it and internet credit, getting rid of it after crimbo, i paid £110 for mine and have seen them for as low as £75 since i bought it.

The San Francisco is a far better specced phone than this for hardly any more money!
Only a 3" 320 X 480 Resistive touchscreen lets it down..
Only 256MB Ram means this phone will be laggy
Android 1.6 but should be upgradeable to 2.1
Had a look at this in the Orange shop about a month ago and it looked nice and felt good to hold in the hand, but the sales assistant said "I don't rate the LG Optimus at all" and thats the sales assistant that said that so just goes to show..

You can't really trust sale's assistants in this day and age anyway! I'd rather stick with internet reviews, a whole collection. Then decide!

"I don't rate the LG Optimus at all"... "You should get the £400 Samsung Galaxy S instead"

He was just hovering and then walked back behind his desk!

Yes. Absolutely but it requires a bit of DIY.... Probably the best buy of the year for me (and I've got the iPhone 4 as well).

Thanks OP - I was actually looking to buy the Optimus from Tesco Mobile this week...not sure if I should now after reading the other comments. Do you think the aforementioned free unlock code would work on the San Fransisco to work with a Tesco sim?

i was going to buy the sf but it looks complicated to debrand it

Yes it will work. Did it myself with 3 UK SIM

I had a contract with e2save once. A shamefully bad company. You should be OK on PAYG, but I personally would have nothing to do with these cowboys. Can't comment on the phone.

Another SF fan here too. The branding isn't too bad, if you prefer to live with it.

I managed to debrand it using the guide on modaco.com - i'm no expert and it was very easy to follow the instructions were nice and clear and everything was step by step, brilliant bit of kit.

I wonder if I am missing something, there isn't any option for the ZTE Models SFR 371 on the drop down menu... how do you unlock it?

I used this one first http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/319565/07-oct-2-5-0-9-r2-clockworkmod-recovery/

followed it through and installed the clockwordMod recovery

then followed this page http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/318686/21-oct-r4-modaco-custom-rom-mcr-downloads-online-kitchen/

to install the r4 release, not sure about the dos prompt bit as I just typed exactly what they said into the prompt and it all worked fine!
hope this helps

Theres an easy fix for the apps problem - you just need to roll-back updates to the android market..... It only takes a few seconds :-)
