you need the fingers of a 10 year old to use the LG or a stylus if you are a big lad or gal
samsung much better. imho

I've just spoken to them and they said it was for existing customers who were buying an additional line. If you don't already have an existing line it will be £10

Maybe update the title?

They said the phone was free, but t was 24 months at £10 per month. They acknowledged the £7.50 deal existed but only for people getting an additional line :x

I would say Galaxy Portal

i logged in just to post. i myself am an owner of the t-mobile pulse, and, on the whole, it's great. my sister owns the galaxy spicca/i5700, and i really don't like it. my main issue with the samsung is that i find the touchscreen to be so clunky, it's not even funny. the phone is forever hitting the wrong keys - it really oes my head in. my pulse, on the other hand, is an absolute dream to use - the keyboard is as responsive as can be, and hits all of the right keys for me - a pleasure to use.

also, both the samsung and the pulse both have a 3.2 mp autofocus camera. the samsung takes better shots, but, at night time, it lags like nobody's business. samsung have always been bad in this regard, but the i5700 takes the cake. when taking a picture at night, moving the phone around will blur terribly, AS WELL as slowing the camera itself down - it takes forever to catch up, despite having a processor that's 272 mhz faster than the pulse.

next, when taking a picture with the i5700, you have to tap to focus, and then release the focus, and press the camera button again to take the picture. on my pulse, it's half press the hardware button or on-screen 'ball', fully press, and the picture's taken. t-mobile are taking forever to update the i5700 from the stock android 1.5 (might be 1.6, can't remember) to the recent 2.1 version. other countries have it already, and have done for a while.

the same is true of the pulse, BUT, the pulse has a far superior (imo) modding community than the i5700, with custom roms aplenty, if that's your 'thing'. lastly, it's amazing - the pulse has 192 mb ram - 105 mb of which is available, yet you NEVER get any more than around 26 mb free. manufacturer huawei really need to sort that out - but my pulse still does everything as fast as my sister's i5700.

as for the lg - it seems fine from reviews, by lg don't seem to have much support for it, and i haven't seen a modding community to speak of. the touchscreen is said to be very responsive by way of finger and stylus input, so that's a plus over the awful samsung. without a doubt, i'd urge anyone reading this to get the pulse, consider the lg, and avoid the i5700 at all costs. samsung just can't seem to get the hardware and software right for their touchscreen phones - be they capacitive or resistive.

I have a pulse , the third one and i will return this one also. The second one kept locking up and the third has on two ocasions in less than a week displayed the screen in two halves, needs turning off to restore, also the battery is flat in no time at all. the pulse is anice phone for the money but not perfect by a long way

Well I just called, and the nice lady was not in the slightest bit bothered that I no longer had any T-Mobile accounts live.

£7.50 pcm x 24 (NO upfront cost other than £2 on my card to be refunded), went for the LG as it has a 5mp camera and an easier keyboard.

Free internet and free landline calls (flexible booster - can be changed every 30 days to free texts)

Both fones have their up's and down's - TechRadar site gave the LG the edge with 4* compared to 3.5* for the Samsung.

I also used omio's website to compare them side-by-side and they are similar but the Samsung is smaller, and has a bigger screen (AMOLED too - very nice display)

For my wife, the LG seemed the better option. Birthday present sorted.
