Hi,
Before everyone starts, this will be probably be store specific, so you will have to check to see if your local pcworld or currys has this.
The reason I am posting this is I went in to pick up an LG bd370 that was on here earlier and I saw this. Along side that were 2 other LG home cinema system and 1 Samsung system@ £79.97 (sorry I cant remember the model numbers).
Just to check, I then went into currys and pcworld in beckton and found a few other cinema systems / Blu ray players that were on offer from £59.97 - £79.97.
So if you are after a cheap HDMI DVD home cinema system its worth actually Popping into a couple of store and seeing what is on the shelf, as you never know you may get a bargain.

I just thought of another one that they tried to sell to me while I was in pcworld in Harlow, it was a Blu Ray home cinema Samsung HT BD1250 @ £149.97. It was the last one there, but they were some in other stores.

Note that the LG has no digital audio inputs, so you won't be able to pipe surround sound from your Sky box into it

.. and there are a few horror stories relating to the Samsung as well - not recommended..

Good find Tony, I was looking for a cheap system until I can afford something a bit better next year. Managed to pick one of these up from PC World in Yeovil.

.97 is end of line - make sure your local store has stock before driving down.

can I plug these speakers into my television (Panasonic TXP 42G20B) (and use the dvd player elsewhere) or do I need an AV receiver as well. I'm looking for a cheap surround sound set-up ?

plug the audio out (red white phono plugs) from source, satellite etc into the audio in of the LG for excellent surround sound much better than the TV speakers, connect HDMI for video upscaling also this model has digital audio in

according to this it doesn't have digital audio in

Which is a real shame as for most people this makes it pretty useless.

I guess you can use the analogue stereo inputs, still this has got to be much better than standard TV sound so I guess this is hot.

I think what hes saying is that it has HDMI in which works for both audio and video but it doesnt have the old Digital optical inputs. So its fine for PS3 and Sky HD aslong as you dont mind plugging the HDMI into the DVD player and from there into the TV.
Oh sorry apparently it doesnt even habe a hdmi in only out. Thats a really stupid thing to do on LGs part although they would say it isnt stupid so they can sell a more high end system. I hate when companies delierately gimp a product just to sell it as the budget model.

I just picked this up, checked in stockport, none in stock, but they checked it on the screen for me and found one in Oldham, after making the staff search the entire store for it, I found it at the front on a clearance table. These are X display, but excellent condition. It has no digital input, but im thinking of running the speakers of a seperate AMP,

Saw this in my local currys (brentwood, essex) last week for 59.97. Went in there today and they still had it, but now 49.97. Guy said display one was last one, had a look at it and it had a small scratch on the sub woofer, he spoke to the manager and they knocked another 5 pound off so I had to buy it for 44.97. Only problem now is what to do with it - think it will have to go in my daughters bedroom with 32" technika deal from here from Tesco after xmas (199.00). This site is a nightmare for me, I love a bargain even if I don't really need it!
