I'm after a media player and i'm going to vote hot because of the price and for many people it will do the job, however other than the fact a HDD is included i'm not blown away with the specs.

Can't help but think i'd be wishing i bought a WD TV Live if i got this.... or Sumvision do a version with a HDD (previous sumvision kit i've owned - dvd divx player has been cheap and not lasted 2 years tho). Does this play h.264 for example which my camera records in.
Doesn't support h.264 or mkv, which accounts for most of my movies! also i dont think it plays divx either! This is now way over the price of a 1tb external hdd, so I would look at this item as maybe a music player/low def player rather than a high def video player because it cant do 1080p either and cant do many high def formats.
Lack of mkv makes this poor value.
Why exactly would someone make a media player with HDMI connectivity and then not handle mkv or h264?
well i guess the sales pitch is that if you're after a portable hard drive (which i am) that for an extra £20 on top (a 500gb seagate or sammy will cost you £65 ish), you also get a portable media player.

now the fact that it doesn't do MKV, H.264, ISO?, DTS? etc.... is why you're not paying an extra £XX on top. The WD TV-Live is around the £90 mark, it has the advantage of being networkable but for high def stuff you're probably going to want some storage plugged in to it.
