on Virgin mobile

think it has an accelerometer in it aswell (yes i know thats not spelt correctly)

virgin mobile, don't know how easy to unlock? Not 3g, if that makes any difference to anyone

Edit, from gsmarena -
Given the focus on affordability, LG KC550 is a nice surprise in terms of construction. We are quite pleased with the build quality and handling, although the handset looks are obviously not among its selling points.

The fact that all messages share an editor on the LG KC550 has a somewhat negative impact on user-friendliness. Now all sorts of unneeded options pop in the way when you are trying to send a simple text.

Final words

The LG KC550 is without a doubt a nice performer with balanced functionality. It's not an all-round multimedia device and it's not meant to be one. The LG KC550 is a no-thrills, all-camera handset that does the job it's made for and it does it well. The sunlight legibility and the awkward file manager are not deal-breakers and being the soft spot of most LG handsets, they don't seem to hurt LG global sales that much.

We really liked the 5 megapixel camera performance and if it weren't for the disappointing video recording and the unassuming looks, the LG KC550 would have made it as a top-of-its-class package.

Yeah I have this and my sister has the tocco light... personally this is the better more rounded handset. The tocco has some benefits but as an all rounder this is the one to go with

Fair enough on older phones there's bits and bobs available off the net, and for newer phones you can buy credits to unlock and such like. The average person probably wouldn't know where to look or how to use those sort of things though. Point being Virgin is no easier to unlock than Vodafone.

You will have to pay to get this unlocked. You need a Micro Box to unlock it, not the sort of stuff you'd have laying in a draw lol.

Yes it does have an accelerometer and you did spell it correctly :)

The handset has an "advanced" image stabiliser, and pics can be viewed back on the handset's 2.4-inch LCD screen while the accelerometer feature automatically rotates images vertically or horizontally for optimal viewing.

The accelerometer also comes into play for a motion controlled gaming function, called "M-Toy", which reacts to the handset's movements. By tilting or rotating the handset, users can throw darts, hook a fish or navigate a maze.

Also offering 30fps video encoding/decoding at 720 x 480 resolution, it also boasts a TV output function for playback or big screen gaming.

Can you not use a turbo SIM or similar?

Hi guyz! If you're lookin to get that 2.5% by going through quidco, then I'd probably buy from currys. It's cus you get your 2.5% a lot faster from what i've seen from the stats that is.

2.5% quidco at Currys & Dixons. PC World 3% The Link give £2 for Vurgin PAYG

Good work! Only thing is pc world can take up to 5 months to dish out their cashback.
But £2 from The Link is a quick way to get a free drink I guess.
#23
Not sure about this one - the reviews are certainly varied.
Does anybody know whether this phone has voice activated dialling? Some sites say yes, some no!
#24

Virgin don't have a network. I understand they piggyback on T-Mobile.

Why would you need 3phones?:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
#28
I have not needed to pay for a phone to be unlocked before so how much does this tend to work out..?

@ federalex I can see that you have written that the camera is rubbish but what is the problem with it, the camera would be important for us. From the review that I have read it gives the impression that the camera is quite good..?
#29
If I could find out how to unlock this to O2 I'd get it in a flash, virgin gets rubbish reception around here. still, heat added

I bought this phone about 6 months ago when it was on offer for about 55 quid and its a cracking phone! I've dropped it down stairs, sat on it (im 15 stone!!) and it survived. Also has good features and is easy to use.

Also worth noting that as Virgin use the same network as T-Mobile, this phone can also be used wth T-Mobile SIM
#31
I've had this phone for a while now and its great and easy to use, the camera takes brilliant pictures, and the video wasn't too bad either! An excellent phone for the price, (in tesco it came with a micro SD included)

my wife has this phone, camera is cracking quality

Ordered sunday with The Link, supposed to be here today. Looks unlikely. Apparently awaiting validation. Probably a stinker for me. Anyone else get one? Maybe another dixons non event, have to wait and see.

Ta Da, what a surprise. None in stock in Currys, Dixons or The Link. Phoned the Link customer services and they said the bank was rejecting address. But that was correct. So I said cancel and put me through to customer services to order another. Apparently they could not get through. I dialled and got through no problem. The customer services said they had 5 in stock. The sales guy said if they did not have it on the website they could not order.I hate these people. Complete scum.

I ordered yesterday and mine says delivery instructed and a royal mail tracking number, i used a debit card not a credit card.
#36

Forgot about PC world. Had problems trying to order from there. Had to call and wait ages to do it. Thanks for the tip on the Sammy, but I wanted the LG. I think that is the last I will ever buy from the Dixons cowboys. I'm surprised they ain't gone bust, probably will once bestbuy arrive. Should have mentioned before, they wanted my DOB, refused, then gave them a false one. They said it was for warranty claims, etc. Also said that experian would do a credit check what has that got to do with buying a fifty quid phone. I'm concerned about these blaggers and their tactics. Nazis for sure. The DOB is probably for the credit check, but why?

seem to be nowhere at this price any more. anyone found any lately?
