Been out for a few months but still a well-specced phone. Dolby mobile sound, capacitive 800x480 touch screen, 8gb built-in memory, wi-fi etc. Cheapest I can see is £200 online but £150 +top-up in-store. Best price I can find- let me know if you find it cheaper as I'm interested in getting one.

I saw this in the Farnborough, Hampshire branch. Didn't seem like it was on special so should be this price in other places.

kpmatthews, you might want to read this review before you buy this phone-
here's the reason-

it has become apparent that Orange have done something awful to this phone. They've removed Google Maps, replaced the web browser and music player with their own contraptions, and done something to stop you viewing youtube videos. Most of the bad user reviews below are from Orange users. The answer's simple: don't buy this phone on Orange, and don't upgrade to it if you're currently on Orange. Get a new contract instead. You have been warned!!

Second update [June 2009]: We've been reading the user reviews for the Arena with dismay, because it's apparent that many of you guys are having real problems with this phone freezing, crashing or completely shutting down. We don't know whether this is simply an Orange problem, or if it happens on other networks too. Although many users report no problems, there are too many reports of things going worng for us to ignore, and so we've downgraded our rating from 5 stars to 4 stars. This doesn't mean that we've changed our opinion - it just reflects the "risk factor" that you might end up with one of the dud Arenas.

Its the only review I've seen, so you can't go by only one review, but its worth a read

I've got one. It awful. And it's not on Orange, so I assume with their crippling firmware it'll be even worse.

This was placed on clearance before Christmas along with about 8 other handset. All the others sold out in a few days but this one remains ??? I wonder why. . .

I sold this phone on ebay recently for £200. Fantastic video recording but everything else was total garbage and it crashed, was slow, refused to answer calls, etc. And no, it wasn't on Orange.

My honest advice is don't bother. This is a brilliant deal for a totally pants phone.

If I could get someone to cough up £200 I'd get rid of mine too. I've been arguing with T-Mobile for months that this phone is not up to spec but they couldn't care less. Guess they're getting ready for their merger with Orange by implementing terrible customer service. They've lost me as a customer for life.

T-mobile is sh1te in its own way with its ever-changing terms and conditions. But this issue is really down to LG selling a phone that is totally unfit for purpose. I'll never buy another LG phone. Specifications can look great but if the phone doesn't actually work they are irrelevant.

PS Dunfyboy - sell the LG for whatever you can get and buy a w995 unlocked and unbranded from Phones 4u for £199. iPlayer support is magic and it actually works. Life is too short for a phone you can't answer half the time. And when you get to the end of your contract you can join any network you like.

Seriously considering it. I chose this because it had a built in FM transmitter (something I found really handy in my SE W980) but its just another thing the Arena can't do properly. It only broadcasts one channel (not even both channels in mono - that I could live with) and it sounds poor. LG have added low pass filters so that the bass sounds better when you use Dolby Digital but the equaliser settings don't affect the sound coming from the transmitter.

Only options are Nokia N's with built in transmitters or give up on that idea and go back to SE. All I know is I won't be getting a LG again.
