I appreciate that contracts aren't everyone's cup-of-tea - likewise with redemption cash back offers but if these are something you'd consider then read on.
I have just completed my 6th redemption deal with E2save (part of CPW group).
If you claim properly and make sure you include everything in a timely way, you will almost certainly get your redemption cheque. I have had the last payment from my 6th phone without a single hitch (they 'lost' one of my redemption claims but when I called and told them of my recorded delivery number, they paid up with no further issues)
If you're still reading, then look at www.mobiles.co.uk which is another of the CPW companies.
They are doing the viewty won Orange at £20/month on 24m contract where 13 months are free (my redemption) making the final figure only £9.16 per month
This is for 600m and unlimited texts.
Deal is here if interested http://www.mobiles.co.uk/silver-lg-viewty.html
http://www.mobiles.co.uk/images/silver-lg-viewty.jpg
A word of caution: statistically, only 40% of people manage to claim properly.
It really isn't rocket science but you do not get reminders so if you are disorganised - you'll become one of those persons who lose out - so stay away.
Mind you, quite cheap anyway for a high user!

That is not 100% true (given you are making a sweeping statement)
Bear in mind you are referring to returned/refurb items.
They therefore don't guarantee the full enclosures, and from my own experience, you take pot luck. In some cases get very lucky and get brand new. This fact is clear on their T&C.
If you don't like what you receive, don't switch it on or fit the SIM card, just return it and they will refund.

i bought it in store and nowhere on my receipt or in box., outside of box, does it say refurb, nor did the sales guy say it was a return etc, the box is an lg official box, but a sealed charger and sealed manual was the only 2 things included, didnt get a sim card as was an 02 upgrade, ringing the manager tommorrow for clarifaction, i got this phone free via store credit and a tradein as i had problems witha refurb phone online with cpw (but that came in a plain white box?)

I could of course be wrong and I was just offering a 'from my experience'.
The last 3 clearance phones I have had from them (in fact their sister company E2Save.co.uk) have arrived in original boxes with no markings to indicate they were not brand new - my receipt said 'clearance' .
On their web site, pressing the '?' next to clearance brings up::

Reconditioned/Clearance Product

By using reconditioned/clearance stock, we are able to offer you even
further savings on your monthly line rental! These items are either
ex-demonstration, trial or mail order returned. These are not flawed
products although they may carry very minor cosmetic marks. For your peace
of mind, each and every handset has been quality inspected by our engineers
& reconditioned if necessary. Each handset also comes with a full years
manufacturers warranty. Please note that reconditioned handsets are usually
repackaged once tested and do not come in the original branded box. These
products are only packaged with a charger, other accessories and
memory cards are not guaranteed
.

I hope that clarifies - as I know they also hand these out as replacements from time to time as a like for like thing. As you say, worth clarifying with the local manager if you're missing things.

Phoned store tonight, they told me Lg has been supplying the KU990I for a few weeks now in smaller box minus the 4 accessories it had before, software, usb cable, headset, and stylus
"lite" model i was told although doesnt say that on receipt or box, hope that clarifies things somewhat, new phone , just cutbacks by LG with the normal free goodies.

This has now been reduced by a further £10 ! Making it just £79.99 delivered, bargain price :) (I'll update the OP)

The Complete Camera Phone
Following the huge success of the LG Mobile Black Label Series Chocolate and Shine, LG has progressed into the high-technology camera phone category with LG Viewty.

Mobile Technology Making Full Internet
For fast and easy information search, LG Viewty comes with HSDPA 3.6 Mbps which allows full Internet browsing capability, the Google package (includes Google Search, e-Blogger, Gmail and Google Maps for mobile handsets), and MSN and Yahoo messenger services. (network dependent)

View The Next Technology
5 Megapixel Camera, 3 Inch Touch Sensitive Screen, High Speed Video Recording (120 FPS), Auto and Manual Focus, ISO 800 and SmartLight.

5 Megapixel Camera Certified By Schneider-Kreuznach
LG Viewty's 5 megapixel camera is capable of taking clearer and more vivid images with its high-resolution capturing technology. The rich and vibrant colours of the photos will look superb anywhere, whether on a wide LCD screen or when developed.

Enjoy Various Docusing techniques
LG Viewty not only includes the conventional auto focus function, but for the first time in camera phone history, it offers a manual function that enables users to focus independently.

Capturing The Best Moments Even In Low Light
Increasing the ISO standard to 800 and including SmartLight technology users can capture better pictures in low light without the artificial glare of the flash.

Taking Steady Pictures With Image Stabiliser & Direct Key
This useful feature enables novice photographers to take steady pictureswithout handshaking and prevents delicate movements when capturing subjects.

Catch Every Detail With High-speed Recording (120 FPS)
This is an ultra high-speed function that can capture the finest detail of any passing moment to be played back in the most vivid and dramatic way.

Discover True Viewing Pleasure With 3 Inch Full Touch Screen
The extra large display panel provides superior visibility when operating its camera or handset functions and it reacts to user's touch by signalling direct contact with vibration.

Freedom Of Expression With Handwriting Recognition & Editing
Handwriting Recognition technology identifies user handwriting on the display surface for easy and convenient composition of text, phone numbers and Internet searching. With the added Editing function, users can freely edit and enhance captured images and re-live the moment by directly drawing or writing on them with their fingertips or with a stylus.

Paid £50 using the additons voucher couple of months back, bit of a fiddily phone.

I've had this phone for nearly 18 months. Good phone, if you dont want to use it for emails. Everytime i try to receive emails it crashes and resets itself. I *think* this is because it cant handle the processing of new vs old emails as i leave copies on the server (~3000 emails), but still, even my 5yr old xda did it without issue.

Good camera too, and very easy to setup as a bluetooth modem.

I got the s/w disk with mine, installed and it worked to download all of about 8 photo's. Didn't work again even though deinstalled then reinstalled the s/w.

If you want a phone that looks the part but doesn't actually play it - this is the phone for you!

Mine works as a mass storage device, I never needed any driver to copy files across. The software is just for synchronisation which you dont need to do. Besides you can just take the uSD card out and use a card reader if it is causing you that much trouble.

they only deliver to billing address :( i called them up about it, beacuse ive always had stuff delivered to different adresses, and they said they cant change it :( looks like a really good deal too

Ahh you dont have an SD card, maybe you can only access the micro SD card as mass storage, that's the only thing I have ever tried to access. Make sure you get a micro SD and not an SD.

For me (on 3 diff pcs - xp and vista) I just

1) activated bluetooth on the phone, told the pc to search for new BT devices - when the phone was detected it also auto installed a bluetooth modem.

2) You then create a new dialup connection on your computer, selecting the bluetooth modem.

3) Im on tmobile and all I needed to enter was the number to dial: *98#

Of course, this may differ between mobile networks, but is easy on tmob. Username and password are left blank.

Hope it helps

Speaking as an LG Viewty owner this is sadly true. Price has tumbled since I bought mine for £130 too (plus £25 unlock fee)

Poor touch screen
Hit and miss camera (more hit than miss but still a pain)
Horrible OS (slow and badly organised)
Limited browser (scroll function becomes Zoom, back function reloads pages, can only use full screen keyboard for some areas)
Never managed to get my emails working like the other post.
Useless battery indicator. (3 or 4 days of full battery then drops to 2 bars which means it will die next time you look at it)

£79.99 is probably a LOT closer to what it is worth though. Of course this does make it a LOT cheaper than an iPhone!
#33
it does have very good features on paper, but in practice most of the features don't work very well... - first of all the camera is absolute rubbish, my old 2mp sony ericsson takes better photos! The video on the other hand, is excellent (weirdly...)
- the mp3 player and sound quality is also poor.
- Its quite a slow phone - again my old £20 sony ericsson w610i was very fast with java and ran opera mini perfectly. using it on the lg viewty is just very sluggish.
- The internet browser again looks good, but its awful to use (scrolling is a nightmare!)

It might seem like i hate this phone, but i actually like it! I really have got used to texting with the keyboard so i don't want to go back to keypad. Its quite durable as well...

Basically what i want to say is;
For £79.99 this is a very good price - just don't pay any more!!

edit: lol ofi basically took the words out of my mouth

This isn't a bad phone, just don't expect something that's on the same level as an iphone. I've had mine about 2 months now and I like how you can use the keyboard, and its a qwewty keyboard so you can type fast. I've never got the emails to work, but if you use gmail for example you can download a good email application from the site that works. But you won't be able to get push emails so you'll have to check. For some reason the email client on the phone doesn't like a lot of email provides gmail and AOL are the ones I tried to set up and failed.

You can also install an 8gb hdsc card, though it does tell you it only goes up to 2gb. For this to work you need to fill the card up and just leave less then 2gb free. This way you can add loads of mp3s and other stuff to the phone. The phone also has a massive 100mb of memory. The microsd card doesn't come with the viewty so you have to buy your own. The battery life on the phone is also a little disappointing.

Still a great deal for a 5mp camera, mp3 player and it also uses 3g for video calling.

Forget the software.

Menu button > Settings > Phone settings > Connectivity > USB connection mode > Mass storage

Should just show as a disk in My Computer (or equivalent) had th eodd occasion where it would not detect it and i've had to restart the computer.

I bought an 8GB card for this reason. To be honest though the ONLY reason to do it is if you want to use it as an MP3 player.
Loading it up with anywhere near 8GB of photos would kill it. In my experience anything over 300 images, regardless of size, makes the phone speed unbearable (it appears to try and thumbnail EVERY file into the ram..)
Oh and whilst you can store data on it the camera won't accept it as a save location. I was having to record a couple of minutes of video and then transfer them (on the phone) from phone memory to the card then record some more video and then do the same again.

Like you say, don't expect an iPhone.

Yes. Don't bother with the phone software just enable it as a removable disk drive then adding music is a simple drag and drop away.

I bought this phone a couple of months ago from Littlewoods Direct for £99, i got £10 off my first order plus Quidco and i Sol my old phone which i got off play.com for £59.99 on Ebay and got £50. So mine worked out at around £40.

Only problem is I HATE THE PHONE, i just cannot get used to typing and i find it really hard and quite slow, the novelty of the stylus drifts away after a week after you get bored of getting it out all of the time and my stylus broke, everytime i push down on it, it folds away.

It is a reall nice looking phone but i think i prefered the normal buttons rather than the touch screen.

Well thats my opinion anyway lol!
