It's crazy that soundbars are now seen as essential because TV speakers are considered bad. I'm waiting for the day I need a second screen so that I don't have to watch the screen that came with the TV

TV speakers are bad now-a-days because everyone wants slim TV's. Therefore the speakers don't have any depth which is essential for good quality sound. Not sure why so many people want their TV's so slim. Unless it's hung on the wall, who cares if it's 1 inch deep or 4?

No sub is a deal breaker. Not great for music or movies. Would most likely be an improvement over TV speakers though.

You are correct as lowest price by a third party retailer was £49.99 but I am not sure if that includes postage or not. It's quite rare that I would ever buy anything electronic from a third party retailer off Amazon. Cheapest Amazon direct price was £54.99. This is a good price considering the reviews unlike the las160b which is dreadful.

Stock at my local argoose so heat added. It's a bit ugly though when comparing it to my las550h

Bought one nice sound bad

could I use this to pair with an Amazon echo dot to save having to buy the full echo? what would be the difference in quality? as that would save me £50. thanks.
#16
I bought this last year for similar price from Sainsburys.
it's not bad but it's not a massive difference from the tv speakers (sony Android) , and you hardly get any control over the audio like bass etc I think there's about 3 buttons on the remote I can't even remember now as it's shoved in a draw.
And the Android app to connect through bluetooth is useless they should be embarrassed :) I managed to connect once for about 1 minutes and all the other times it fails to connect.
#17
Quick comment for other non-techs (like me!) I bought an LG sound bar last year, and hated the sound because it was very echoy. Took me a day to realise that you need to go into your TV's settings and turn OFF the TV's own speakers. Now I'm very happy!
Hope this helps someone, wish I'd known it when i first hooked it up.

I've reserved one to pick up today..

I only want to use it to play music from my ipod/phone. Is it decent enough for that? Not too bothered about it being used as speakers for the tv. Just wanted something that has a good sound to it and isnt a pain in the backside to set up
#21
Got one today. Doesn't seem any way to get it to play from my Samsung TV via bluetooth, so had to purchase a toslink cable from amazon for £3.50. Also brackets for the wall are £10.50 on ebay.

Gutted. Not opened it up yet, thought bracket may have been supplied. I've got a sky Q box, is it best to use hdmi CEC on TV?
#23
Is it possible to use with Desktop computer?
#24
To clarify guys, I picked one of these up and it doesn't come with an Optical cable or wall mount.

However, it is a simple set-up. I've had no issues connecting to Bluetooth with my phone (my Samsung TV doesn't have Bluetooth but that's not the sound bars fault).

And lastly, in terms of sound quality, it's amazing for the price! I don't think you'd get better for this low end prices sound bar. You just have to set realistic expectations. It is 2 channel and no subwoofer so is always going to lack a certain "depth" of sound!

People just want to pay peanuts and expect gold in return.

I got one today and was very disappointed with the sound. Loud enough but if you want any bass forget it. Maybe ok for movies but I tested with music and my tv was better I do have a Samsung ue55ju7500t tv which has good sound anyway. I would say it was clear sound and loud but missing any depth. I will be returning Mine tomorrow not impressed.

Good for some. :)

That was the point of my comment (second post). Why buy a 'sound system' without a sub and expect depth. I do wonder why I comment now.

2 channel of 100 watt. Does it mean 2x100w = 200 Watts ?

Well your comment was after I had purchased I took a chance I knew it the back of my mind it was going to be rubbish for me but I gave it a shot. Looks like I need to spend £150+ for me to be happy. I won't be happy about spending the money so just won't bother :)

Would you rather go back to the CRT size TV's with good speakers ?

I have a 5.1 system but subs cost pretty much more than the unit itself, its stupid how expensive they are.

I still have my old Sony STR-DB895D

I wonder why the sound power is so low e.g 100W I have seen some sound abr have the power of 300 watt or higher. This is just one example of around 320 Watt

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LG-NB3540-320W-Soundbar-with-Wireless-Subwoofer-Silver-From-Argos-on-ebay-/351906217150?hash=item51ef3ebcbe:g:XtIAAOSwKOJYKzmv

Is the total power of the soundbar advertised here in the UK is not 100watt but 2x100watt due to dual channels ??

That's true but there's some really good value 5.1 systems. You get a lot more for your money than you do with the new soundbars. I think people are paying for the novelty. It's effectively like having the front 3 speakers in one casing, plus a sub. I'm actually using the centre and front L+R speakers and sub from a bluray system. Don't have the rear ones setup as I could do without the additional wiring. Cost me than than an equivalent soundbar setup.

I think he meant to say nice sound btw. That's the problem if typing using a phone or tab on android especially. You know you have typed it correctly but then that little robot goes and change it cos it thinks it knows best.

I think you have a point. My brother in law has his tv connected to his music system. I can't remember the name now but its the old fashioned type from the 90's that had a separate amp, deck, cd etc with proper speakers. From the age before bluray players, smartphones and similar devices we are so used today. He has his tv plugged into the amp (no hdmi) as it hadn't been invented for his music system. The sound is amazing in comparison to most new systems that I have heard. Sometimes technology doesn't move forward but sometimes a little old technology mixed with new has a good result. For me though my own music system was made redundant when CD's came out which is a shame now as that amp and proper speakers could have been put to good use today.

Hi what brackets did your purchase? And how do they connect to the sound bar? As I can't see any connection points on the bar.

Cheapest on Amazon is £85 and £69 on Tesco

Appears Tesco have now also reduced their price to £55 as well, available on click and collect.

I just checked their check stock in your local store option as well and notice most stores appear to be out of stock, so you may want to order online.
