UPDATE: This TV can be remote control HACKED to play DIVX/AVI movies using USB drive direct plug into the tv! (I did it on mine)

Instructions:
You will need to buy a cheap remote: Not all will work but most around £10 will work. The £1.99 QLM universal didn't work so I got the £9 Maxview @wilkinsons, worked fine. Others such as Gumbody, Fully8 also known to work.
Maxiew - I programed with the code 0119 on the remote. Then press SETUP and - / --. This enters the password screen, typed 0000 and went into the EPZ-Menu. I clicked on the first option. Then scroll down to i think 4th line where u see ends with PM...change to PMM. Press return on the remote than switch off TV and back on. Now connect your USB with Divx or AVI movie file. Now use LG remote, press menu and USB icon. scroll to movies and watch!

I have the LG M227 and looking at this one it appears the same even on the LG site. but screen size is quoted as 21.5" on this and 22" on M227

proberly one is aimed at tv only and the other at pc use. The M227 is very pc monitor styled in my opinion. this one looks more like the tv's

looking for something similar but with a dvd player, any tips??

I have the 22" 22LG3000 which is a TV-also-Monitor, whereas I think this is a Monitor-also-TV. I can't really see any practical differences between them, I think the specs are the same. Actually the resolution of this one looks higher.

I like mine, it's very good except the Freeview quality is very poor. I don't use it for that tho, so I'm not too bothered.

Um... look at the specs for that LG monitor on Amazon. Top / native resolution is 1920x1080... that's 1080p!

Great price for a 22" from a top brand

The M227WD is 21.5" and althought both has freeview, the M227WD is more of a monitor than TV side i guess thats the difference.

I think LG makes two types, one is towards the PC and other is TV.
Maybe its 1080i and HDMIx1 :whistling:

I had an LG M2294D 22" which is a "Monitor-also-TV" and it made a very average TV and quite poor PC monitor, even after changing most of the settings to make it much better than it was. It was a huge compromise to be honest. Although I will need a small TV for the bedroom in the future I sold it at quite a loss as I don't need it now and will just get a dedicated TV at the time.

I got it last Christmas but I hope/expect LG's newer versions are much improved.
#17
I'm confused by this whole 'it is a monitor or a TV debate?' :-(
#18
We got our son the M227WDP-Z for his Christmas and I have to admit, the picture quality (1080p) and build quality is very impressive.

It does only have one HDMI input (early examples had 2 x HDMI and later models have only 1). He uses it as a TV & monitor and looks great when using it with my PS3.

Only minus point is the sound quality. Its not great but there again, it is only for his bedroom. That and £15 can buy you a decent Logitech 2.1 speaker set which will beat the sound quality of most LCD tvs.

We got ours from OYYY for £180 + quidco, but just for info, Richer Sounds can do the M227WD with a 5 year Guarantee for £208.90 which I think is decent value too.

Buy this and a separate DVD player

It is a good price but Sony and Panasonic better picture but of course more expensive!

Neither hot or cold from me.
Cracking price for a 1080p set but the W227 models which are almost identical can be found slightly cheaper than this.

We bought this LG set last summer and its picture quality is superb, especially when hooked up to a blu ray player. The sound, like most small lcds, is a bit thin but I tend to use headphones anyway. As you'd expect, it's also a great little screen for gaming. Voted hot.

If you are a Makro member (or know someone who is) They have a 23" UMC TV on offer from next week Wed 20th Jan that is full HD for £159.99 (188 inc vat).

It has a Samsung panel and plays DVD's too.

I have a full HD UMC from last year 21.6" and am really pleased with it.

I am using it as a monitor right now.

The LG monitor on Amazon is a better deal. It's very similar spec and £10 cheaper.

miss money saver

That's a good value piece of equipment, it may or may not have the picture quality of the LG but the extra features are pretty impressive.

I like the 3 year LG warranty, I bought an LG TV early last year, it developed a fault (stuck pixel and white line across screen) and has been collected for repair. If the fault had happened outside warranty the TV would have been junk, as it's not economical to repair LCD panels.

If I was buying a 40inch screen, for use as my main TV for blu-ray and gaming, I probably wouldn't buy a Technika TV, but for a bedroom/kitchen tv it's ideal.

Hi guys,

Was looking for some advice. Im looking for a new monitor for my laptop (thats my primary function). However, I cant seem to decide between this one, the LG TV on amazon for 179 or a plain old 24" from Dell for 160 (http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/564782/dell-st2410-24-full-hd-widescreen-m).

Is it better to shell out a bit more money and get the LG Tvs because they have a tuner inbuilt or should I stick with the dell since most of the time I will be using it attached to my laptop - i do plan on watching a fair number of films and so on.

Both the LG and the Dell are 1080p and both look fairly similar on paper.

Also, since the LGs only have HDMI, and my laptop only does DVI out, a DVI to HDMI converter would work right?

Any ideas guys?

Thanks in advance :)

?Yes a £2.50 passive DVI to HDMI adaptor will work, but you'll need a sceond cable for the audio.

The lg has dvi, vga and 2 hdmi ports

If you require the extra connectivity go for this, if not then the dell (which also has the bigger screen).

Something else to keep in mind is that the lg can be wallmounted whereas the dell monitor you're talking about cannot.

Definitely not hot, been looking for a similar size LG brand full HD TV for months and I would say this is not a bargain, had find a few places like amazon, pixmania selling for similar price. So i ended up buying a Full HD Hitachi 42" for under 350quid just after Christmas and I'm now super happy, sorry I was bragging :p, again this one is definitely not a bargain, maybe it is if you only shop at Currys

I'm interested in the TV and notice a few posts about 3-year warranty...this doesn't say that on the Currys website? Am I missing something or is that just standard with LG LCDs?

Indeed.

Or if you sit 30 cms away (as you pretty much do with a PC monitor anyway)

It's what most people like, apparently ;-)

I remember all AV equipment used to be about 50/50 silver or black but since all LCDs and Plasmas are black now all AV equipment is black too. Bit of a pain in the ass if you had silver kit and wanted to upgrade your screen (as I did) :p
