Android 4.0.3, 1.5Ghz Quad Core Tegra 3, 4.7" IPS HD Display, 1GB RAM, 16GB Stroage (with MicroSD slot), Removable battery (2150mAh), 8MP Camera with Flash and NFC (plus all the other stuff you'd expect from a top end phone).

The downside is it's LG so don't expect great support from them, but with £27 Cashback from Quidco (£27.27 from TCB) bringing it down to £345 with 2 Years service (with decent data albeit mediocre minutes and text) I think it's a pretty decent price.

Stock says Pre-Order but release date should be Monday, delivery on Tuesday.

This is their surprising phone - The Verge review basically consists of them saying "we can't believe we're telling you this but it's actually good" - 8.1 and they gave the SIII an 8.5

It should be unlocked.
My girlfriend's HTC One S came unlocked.

Don't think you can downgrade, but might be able to cancel and not pay VAT, you'd have to check with T-Mobile. There's some threads on their site but its not working for me at the moment.

It was the stringing along for 10 months that really hurt. Apparently Korea is getting it.., I won't hold my breath.

You all know how much better the Nexus 7 tablet is in comparison to the competition right? That's because it's straight from Google. Same deal with phones. Buy a Galaxy Nexus or expect update delays, bloatware and compatibility issuse (and LG's ugly skin to boot).

There are allegedly 5 new Nexus devices launching in November. A fool would buy this now.

LG phones are no good+only 50 mins and only 250 texts + stuck on this contract for 2 years = ice cold deal.

LG software supports sucks completely. Even if the spec looks good or the price appears to to be a bargain, you are wasting your money, and will be frustrated by features that don't work properly and non-existent updates. LG had some remarkable hardware ahead of the competition, but missed the boat because of crap firmware and failure to support. Don't waste your cash. Low resale because of reputation and poor updates too.

There's no doubt the new 'Nexus' phones will be great, the leaked specs of the LG suggest it's got a Snapdragon S4 Pro (which is an amazing SoC).
But a new 'Nexus' phone won't be available for £15.50 for a long time! Even the current Galaxy Nexus isn't cheaper than £20.50 a month.

The 'bloat' isn't too bad on this phone, anything that's not wanted can be removed by rooting, installing CWM and then using ROM Cleaner to remove anything you want.

As posted on other similar deal...

Seems like a great deal but i'm affraid that any phone made by LG is COLD!!!!

Hardware will be top notch but it will be weighed down with bloatware from LG and will be very, VERY, V E R Y slow to get Android
updates....

Seriously, avoid this like the plague, you have been warned. (Oh and don't expect to be able to work around the above with custom roms, even they don't work properly because LG are so sh*te)

Oh dear...

Seriously, good luck mate. Keep us updated on how you get on with it.

My guess is you'll be very impressed to start with, depending what phone you are coming from the initial speed boost, bigger/brighter screen, new apps etc will all be very nice..

Then the slow-down will come, the battery life will rear its ugly head, new android will come out but you won't get it... etc etc..

Hope i'm wrong for your sake.

Doesnt look too bad , Both kids have had the LG P500 on contract for a while now and theyre both more than happy with their phones , the wifes due an upgrade this week so might as well show her this one.

Software updates will always be a matter of contention , Samsung and SE are just as bad we have multiple devices and most would be stuck on 2.1 if it werent for rooting and custom firmware .

I'm coming from the htc evo 3d. I hear your concern about LG handsets but according to the reviews it seems they have improved on past models and also the skin on the top seems to be quite light. We shall see. My wife as the htc one s so I want a different choice.

Its useless phone and have serous Camera autofocus issue just read the review on gsmarena.com and other websites I heard that even update is not able to fix the the problem because its camera hardware problem, seems like faulty fixture or module has been fixed inside the phone lot and its only be able to solved in next lot of production which is not possible before asp, sadly in this recent model of LG everything good but main thing is not good. better go for S3 or wait for LTE version of phone coming soon as T-mobile/Orange about to start LTE (4G) 4th generation for Mobile Network which is known to 20X faster than 3G network that makes all 3g enable phone medicare even Iphone 5 is will launch with LTE, Galaxy S3 already headed to Germany and expected to coming in Europe by the and of the month with many new flagship from Motorola, HTC & Samsung, just wait and watch for better deal

The autofocus problem. What leads you to believe it's a hardware problem?
As it's only in Video, the autofocus is fine for stills.

And apparently this app solves the Problem

As for waiting for 4G, I don't think you'd get a phone like this on LTE for this price. Think you might have missed the point of this deal.

That app is pretty dire on the 4X HD, the standard camera app seems adequate anyway, the market one just seems to magnify the default zoom which is awful because it distorts immediately, least the default one keeps sharp and focus.

I will return with more finding once I have had a play about with the handset.

LOL the battery is now on it's 3 day of use here - not charged it yet, came from a HTC desire that needed charging everyday. Camera on other reviews places it 2nd out of the 4 quad core phones on the market. I own a good inexpensive point and click camera and use that to take pictures that I care about anyway. I feel very unlucky indeed. :D

I bloody love this phone so far! Can't see why all the hate? Did LG do something bad to you? There is no bloatware on this phone and it is MUCH better than the HTC sense on the desire - plus you can root it very easily and take it off if you have a slight bit of technical ability.

Some people are extremely bitter over LG's lack of support on previous handsets (notably the Optimus 2X which won't be upgraded to ICS).
You'd think that LG were the only company to have done this.

Way back at the start of android this type of thing used to bother me, but since 2.3, I don't really mind.

Glad you're enjoying your 4X HD anyway.

Err... watch the video review... it says that the pictures it takes are very good, but the auto focus sucks ass in video and stills and shows you proof of what it means...

Very happy with the phone. Big upgrade over my old Desire HD. Nice screen, good interface, battery life seems ok, I'm getting a full day of heavy (new gadget) usage out of it.

Never really used my phones for serious photography, just the odd ad-hoc snap here and there, so I'm not the best person to comment on the camera. The one's I've taken so far seem ok to me tbh.

Ok, CNet didn't think much of it but in the interests of balance, The verge, techradar, pocket-lint, pcadvisor and others all gave it pretty favourable reviews. However, I take all of them with a pinch of salt and base my views on actually using it.

It's not a OneX or SG3 but for £15.50 a month I feel i've got a pretty good deal and that's what counts, no?

Its better than a OneX but not quite the SG3, despite having a sharper screen.

These top end phones should get better software support from their manufacturers.
I don't understand what they are playing at?

I can understand my G300 not getting the latest & greatest.

Come Samsung & LG! Get your act together...
Having said that Samsung seemed to have improved a little since they are being hounded by Apple.
