This sleek and subtly attractive handset is slim, powerful and runs the incredible looking Windows Phone 7 platform. Reassuringly well-built with a premium handset feel, the LG Optimus 7's finish is excellent thanks to the metal back and rubberised coating across the chassis.

A 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor lets the Optimus 7 flow between applications with no lag and, thanks to the intuitive Windows Phone 7 interface, everything on this handset is just a few swipes away. The Optimus 7 boasts a generous 16GB of internal memory giving you room enough to store all your data, plus a 5MP camera with LED flash. The 3.8 inch LCD screen (with 800 x 480 pixel resolution) is bright, sharp and pleasingly responsive to your fingertips. As well as the smartphone staples of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G there is DNLA connectivity, and with Windows Phone you have Office, Zune and XBox Live software in your hand.

According to reviews better than the HTC Win7 models --
smashing price -- shame Win7 is not a mature platform yet (read: Not that many apps available at this time but number will increase) --
early days still but forcasts predict Win7 to become a major player
(and shame Win7 phones have no microSDcard slot, but same counts for Apple)

any chance this can be flashed to android?

Got one of these a couple of weeks ago on the £10 per month Orange deal. Absolutely superb phone, better battery than any iPhone or Android handset I've owned and really slick to use.

The app store, despite not being as full as Android and Apple's offerings, still has over 15000 apps to choose from. The camera's pretty decent too

Nope it can't be.

Great price, amazing OS.

WP7 is going to be a serious mobile OS within the next 6 months, once the Mango update is out.

Microsoft is also buying Skype, which just means further integration.

brilliant phone. great build quality and super fast.

Got mine recently as well with the deal on here.Great phone and the apps are coming out very fast indeed.Mango is gonna make the phone a lot better and make it a real player in the smart phone war.Only problem I had was updating it,kept getting stuck on section 6 of the update through Zune.Had to look around for a work around and found this post which sorted it out.

Update

Cracking price, but I have only just got my Android phone set just the way I like. Can't face doing it all again on a new OS...

Have you risked changing the SD card?

Without sounding like a fanboy (I have nothing against iOS, Android or Symbian), but the WP7 OS is great for any one a bit bored of every other OS. I only have an iPod, not an iPhone, but I couldn't stand staring at those icons all the time. WP7 looks nice, feels nice, and a lot of its features are integrated into one another. There's a big update in a few months that'll make it better, too.

Nope, purely because I don't have a need for that much storage - I change the music on my phone quite frequently.

If you're truly interested in a WP7 and are will to get one on contract - WAIT.

The Nokia WP7's are sure to be the best models out - I waited for 6 months for WP7 to come out after using an iPhone for 2 years, and it was definitely worth it.

I have got one brand new for sale at £200 if anyone is interested. PM me and i will be open a thread. Thanks

Phone is superb, I moved from a defy on android, and this, for everyday use, for simplicity and the 'just works' factor... love it.
I bought mine sim free from germany where the price went down a few weeks back.

Bargain!

yours is locked though isnt it?

I've got one of these, its AMAZING. Battery life is awesome. This thing is built like a gold bar. I have a clear rubber case, and dropped it from 6 feet onto wood floor at the weekend. It didn't skip a beat. Its the first smartphone I've had that I'm not hankering to replace. Recommended.

is windows phone 7 any good for maps/navigation?
#25
nope, not yet. Apparently free turn-by-turn is coming in the autumn update in the form of bing maps, think google nav for windows phone.
#26
and for the person who asked for a link..
It's here...
And it's gone down even more since then... now just 199 euros...
BUT! in all honesty, unless you are happy flashing and are familiar with XDA devs, I wouldn't bother, as the one I got, although it's meant to be europe open firmware, I had an issue with data on T mobile until I flashed with a downloaded euro open, and when I did, I immediately got both the firmware updates... Worked a charm :)

I paid 216 + 6.22 euro P+P, so cheaper still now, and shipping was quick too, 6 days including the easter!
As for 'sold by', I presume you mean amazon, not ebay:) in which case, it's like the UK one, look for the 'also available from' type bit... I used bing translate, until the secure payment pages, at which point I asked my german speaking wife to help :) but it's not really hard to work out, it's pretty much the same as the uk one, just different spelling!
#31
Thanks for the info, are you able to just clarify for me which amazon.de retailer you bought from, there are several selling for EUR 199.89!

Thanks

It is good and I feel value for money, only things I noticed are, it was sent with Motorola Charger and ear pieces. Also requires daily battery charging.
#35
weird, expansys sent a motorola charger and headset with an lg phone?
#36
Just ordered this handset today and then called as i got an email saying that they needed further information. I called up expansys customer service who inform me that they don't know why my order has been put on hold. I checked back on the site and the price has gone back up to 404 pounds! I hope expansys see my order through at the price i ordered it at!!!!
#37
Smoking hot deal!!! Can't believe this isn't hotter for such a decent phone. Price just jumped up to £404 - expired?

Back down to £215

Recieved mine a few days ago, it arrived pretty much next with free deleivery all the way from france > germany then uk. The Phone and OS have impressed me so far.
#39
on amazon.de it says that this phone will only be shipped to germany , is this correct..
#40
tried it and it wont allow this phone to be shipped to my address [the uk]
