I wouldn't normally post a phone deal as 90% of the time they go ice cold but I was asked by a friend to find a reasonable phone/tarriff for him and this is the best I could find at the moment so I thought I'd share.
The LG Optimus is an Android Smartphone which gets good reviews and to buy the phone on its own is £99.99 (just reduced to this on the Carphone Warehouse site).
200mins + 200texts + Unlimited Internet (usual fair use policy of 500MB per month), they also do the same deal but with 100mins + 500texts + Unlimited internet.
Add to this £40 Quidco which could mean your monthly tariff averages out to £10.34 per month.

Is this phone any good? If anybody knows, is it better than Samsung Tocco as it has the same deal? I am thinking of going for the Tocco deal.

Oh BTW: Is the operating system upgradable on the LG? I notice that it has version 1.6 of Android on it - can it be upgraded to the latest? I am sure you can tell I don't know much about phones from the above comment :0)

The phone is actually very good for just under £100, received one yesterday.
But the touchscreen is so bad that i may have to send it back, shame really as it's good value.

I'm very happy with the touchscreen - much better than I expected from previous experience of resistive screens. The only thing I would really like is pinch-to-zoom. Whilst you do have to be slightly firmer than when pressing a capacitive screen, the silver lining is that there are less erroneous "presses".

At this price capacitive screens are a rarity. The only one that jumps to mind is the Pulse (not the mini), and it is much bulkier (too bulky for me).

The other factor that this phone has in it's favour over it's peers is the screen resolution. Most are 320x240, whereas this is 480x320.

How do people find one handed operation with this phone?
