Probably better built than the San Francisco, and it's Android 2.2... ;)
#2
How does it compare to the SF?

I've just had an email from e2save to say my order for the SF has been cancelled as they out of stock and I'm stuck what to buy my daughter for xmas as she said she wanted a smart phone.
I can't afford an iphone.

Would this phone do or should I pay more for a HTC Mozart so something like that?
#3
A lot better than the SF, Android 2.2 is better than the Iphone OS 4.0 in my opinion.
#4
Seems to get good reviews from what I have seen. I know I would be happy with one! ;)

Can be unlocked for £8.99 here: http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/LG/Optimus+One/ might be somewhere else cheaper, that was from a very quick search.

A lot better than the SF,

How is the LG (with it's rubbish screen resolution compared to the SF, and feck all memory), a lot better exactly?

Have you handled both phones? My SF has a larger screen than this LG one, and it's a great quality OLED one, build quality is pretty decent too. No issue with the version of Android on the SF, it's able to make calls and run apps.

Plus you can easily upgrade the SF to Android 2.2 anyway...

Quite a few people have managed to order the SF this eve by calling Orange - cheaper than this phone too, worth a try

Quick look at Both phones

Orange San Francisco:
Better Screen poor camera

LG Optimus:
has GPS but poorer screen resolution

so yeh its either Screen or GPS

and theres the price difference and the san Francisco looks better IMO.

EDIT: just so I dont confuse people the SF does have GPS I was wrong

Edited By: Niz on Dec 09, 2010 11:01: SF does have GPS

well looks like your right that's the only thing that put me off getting the phone might seriously consider it now.

The sf gps is pretty decent. Remember most of the new ones are tft but I'm sure they are still decent as they are the same screen res. There are alpha versions of 2.2 at the moment based on leaked builds. Hopefully a real release will be out next year but Orange have said they aren't going to release a 2.2 version.
#13
sorry voted cold as the spec is nowhere near sf :)
#14
Not bad at all, especially with the SF now lacking its major selling point (the OLED screen). Review here.

You have to love misleading comments like this from people who have no idea what they are talking about. ;)
Just to give correct info so people can make an informed choice.....
There is nothing wrong with the San Francisco for the money, but new ones are being sold now with TFT screens.
The LG comes with an AMOLED screen, so no need to worry about that.
The camera isn't great on the SF. LG has Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, Beauty Shot.
They both have 600Mhz processors.
Both have GPS.
LG screen is 320 x 480 pixels, 3.2 inches
SF screen is 480 x 800 pixels, 3.5 inches
LG battery is 1500mAh
SF is 1250mAh
LG has 20Mb more internal memory.
LG Android OS, v2.2 Froyo, SF has 2.1 (not everyone wants to flash ROM's to their phones)
LG is quad band, SF isn't

Does that makes the spec of the LG nowhere near the SF, NO, it doesn't! :-)

BTW I have a SF, but it's not the best phone for everyone....
#17
LG does not come with an AMOLED screen, it is TFT. The camera isn't great either, quite washed out but yes better than the SF's.
#18
Well some sites say it is and others say it isn't, so I'll take your word for it! ;) Then again it doesn't look like the SF's is either now.

Stupid reply

I should be voting on the fact that; is it good value for the money? Clearly NOT as the price for the phone is high for its capability and therefore this is not HOT , I would agree with you if the handset was priced £69.99 or somewhere on that region.

get your facts right before pointing your fingers and making pathetic replies.

how is the phoned updated to gingerbread? will unlocking the phone have any effect on it? The orange web shop sux you cant check your order online and have to wait several mins to get throught to CS on the phone.
#29
I believe sometimes you do it through the computer, and sometimes over the air. I don't know which method LG use... It won't be for some time yet as gingerbread is only just out and the manufacturers still need to test it and add their customisations etc. Unlocking the phone will have no effect on it at all, the two things are completely separate... ;)
#30
still waiting for my phone, cant wait to receive it and get it unlocked so that I move away from these suckers.
